President Prabowo Subianto chaired Plenary Cabinet Meeting with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming at the Cabinet Meeting Room, Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Sunday (08\/31).<\/p>\n

The meeting discussed the Government\u2019s strategic steps to maintain national stability amid developing situations in the country.<\/p>\n

Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that President Prabowo continues to monitor the national situation and emphasized the importance of solidarity between the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) in maintaining security.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President, regarding national stability, emphasized that the TNI and Polri must remain solid and collaborate to maintain security and bring comfort for the people,\u201d said Sjafrie in a press statement to the media after the meeting.<\/p>\n

The President also ordered the TNI and Polri not to hesitate to take firm and measured actions against legal violations. He also emphasized that criminal acts such as damage to public facilities and looting must be dealt with according to the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there are issues regarding the safety of individuals, homeowners, or officials experiencing looting, officers should not hesitate to take firm actions against perpetrators of riots and looting entering private areas or state institutions, which must always be maintained secure,\u201d the Minister explained.<\/p>\n

In addition, President Prabowo also instructed other state institutions to strengthen coordination to maintain national stability. Among them is the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) that assigned to continuously monitor intelligence situations and report to the President as soon as possible once any dynamics arise in the field.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs was instructed to ensure that coordination between central and regional governments runs well. \u201cAnd to closely monitor economic developments needed by the people. This is a shared need\u2014the synergy of all central and regional governments,\u201d said Sjafrie.<\/p>\n

In addition, President Prabowo ordered Commander of the TNI along with the TNI Chiefs of Staff to maintain regional security and prevent the misuse of natural resources. The Chief of Polri was also instructed to cooperate with the Attorney General to accelerate law enforcement for all violations in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President will always be with the people in the efforts to fight the people’s interests, supported by the TNI and Polri, and together with all community organizations in the country,\u201d the Minister added.<\/p>\n

Concluding his statement, Sjafrie conveyed President Prabowo\u2019s message that national stability is key to the nation\u2019s economic awakening. \u201cLet us continue the national unity to improve our economy with the national stability we realize together,\u201d he remarked.
