President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (09\/24) departed Ottawa for Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport at 9:00 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n

The President was seen off by Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Jess Dutton, Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Muhsin Syihab, and Indonesian Defense Attach\u00e9 in Ottawa Air Vice-Marshal Edwardus Wisoko Aribowo.<\/p>\n

During his working visit to Canada, President Prabowo held two important meetings, which marked a new chapter in strengthening Indonesia\u2013Canada relations: a bilateral meeting with Governor-General Mary Simon at Rideau Hall, followed by a t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney at West Block, Parliament Hill.<\/p>\n

The talks with PM Carney served as a pivotal moment to address priority areas of cooperation, while also covering pressing global issues, including developments in Palestine, ASEAN, and the Indo-Pacific region.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo expressed appreciation for Canada\u2019s consistent role as a development partner, while PM Carney reaffirmed Indonesia\u2019s position as a strategic partner for Canada in Southeast Asia, citing Prabowo\u2019s speech at the UNGA as a source of inspiration.<\/p>\n

The visit produced concrete results, including the signing of the Indonesia\u2013Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA), along with agreements on defense, security, and business cooperation.
