President Prabowo Subianto underscored the country\u2019s strong economic performance during the Plenary Cabinet Session (Sidang Kabinet Paripurna<\/em>) held at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (10\/20). In his opening remarks, the President emphasized that Indonesia has successfully maintained economic stability and robust growth, despite global geopolitical and geo-economic uncertainties.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the current situation where geopolitical conditions are so uncertain and geo-economic conditions are also uncertain, where the supply chains of strategic commodities are definitely affected by the world\u2019s unpredictable geopolitical situation, energy and food are highly vulnerable to this geopolitical and geo-economic uncertainty. Thank God, we are able to maintain our economic growth that is still relatively high compared to that of the rest of the world, we are at 5 percent,\u201d President stated.<\/p>\n

He also noted the Government\u2019s achievement in keeping the budget deficit below 3 percent of GDP and maintaining inflation at around 2 percent, one of the lowest rates among G20 countries. These results, he said, were due to the hard work of all government agencies in monitoring and managing inflation effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis should not be underestimated. Many countries with strong industries suffer from high inflation, but we have managed to maintain stability and market confidence,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo further praised the national capital market, with the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) reaching an all-time high of 8,000 points, signaling strong investor confidence in Indonesia\u2019s economic fundamentals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s important is that our economic fundamentals must be strong, and the most basic economic fundamentals of every nation are food, energy, and water. As long as we are aware of this, we focus on this, we ensure that our policies guarantee that we are capable of producing and distributing food and also energy well and efficiently, and capable of managing our water resources strongly,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

On social indicators, President Prabowo reported that Indonesia\u2019s poverty rate has dropped to 8.47 percent, the lowest in national history. Likewise, unemployment fell to 4.76 percent, the lowest since the 1998 crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce again, we must not be satisfied because 4.76 percent out of 287 million people is quite a large number, and for those who need jobs immediately, this is something we must consider carefully. We understand that this unemployment rate is very troubling for those who really need work, we understand, and that\u2019s why we are working hard,\u201d he concluded.
