President Prabowo Subianto has expressed appreciation to the Attorney General\u2019s Office for successfully recovering Rp13.25 trillion in state losses from a corruption case involving the granting of export facilities for crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives.<\/p>\n

In his remarks at the handover ceremony held at the Attorney General\u2019s Office in Jakarta, the President emphasized that the recovered amount should be utilized for public welfare, provided it is managed properly.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy fellow citizens, with Rp13 trillion, we can renovate more than 8,000 schools. For one fishing village project, we can allocate Rp22 billion each, with proper facilities that, for 80 years of Indonesia\u2019s independence, have never been adequately cared for,\u201d the President said on Monday (10\/20).<\/p>\n

The President stated that the fishermen village development program is one of the Government\u2019s priorities to improve the welfare of coastal communities. Currently, the Government is working to build modern fishermen villages, targeting 1,100 villages by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n

The President also said that corruption in the natural resource sector violates the value of the nation. He reminded the public that the successful recovery of state funds marks only one part of the broader mission to eradicate illegal practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have recently tackled the smuggling of tin and its derivatives from Bangka Belitung through the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force, supported by the TNI, the Attorney General\u2019s Office, the Police, Customs, and other institutions. The estimated losses are around Rp40 trillion per year, and this has been going on for nearly 20 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President further said that illegal mining, under-invoicing, over-invoicing, and miss-invoicing are all forms of deception against the nation, which has granted business licenses and facilities in good faith.<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine losses of Rp30 trillion to Rp40 trillion. Let\u2019s take the lower estimate of Rp20 trillion a year, though in reality, it\u2019s likely higher. International institutions have also estimated losses of about US$3 billion per year. Over 20 years, that amounts to around Rp800 trillion,\u201d the President stated.
