The Governments of Indonesia and Brazil have agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation across various sectors, according to President Prabowo Subianto.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we are honored to receive the state visit of President of the Federative Republic of Brazil. This marks President Lula\u2019s second state visit to Indonesia, following his first in 2008. This is also our third meeting, as two months ago, on July 9, 2025, I paid a state visit to Brasilia.\u201d President Prabowo said in a press statement alongside President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (10\/23).<\/p>\n

President Prabowo stated that the bilateral talks were intensive and productive, underscoring the commitment of both nations as two emerging economic powers in the Global South to further strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas, including trade, science and technology, agriculture, and defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have a defense cooperation agreement with Brazil, which is currently in the ratification process. As I have mentioned earlier, we have also concluded an energy cooperation agreement. A significant deal was just signed between state-owned electricity company PLN and the private sector. We have also begun implementing cooperation in science and research,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo conveyed that the two countries have agreed to establish a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), similar to Indonesia\u2019s existing agreements with the European Union and Canada.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have received support from Brazil, which currently holds the Presidency of Mercosur. We hope this support will continue. In many areas, we see strong complementarities and mutually reinforcing synergies,\u201d the President added.<\/p>\n

Regarding international relations, Indonesia and Brazil share common perspectives on a number of global issues, including a commitment to multilateral cooperation and world peace.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, President Prabowo extended Indonesia\u2019s full support for Brazil\u2019s leadership in hosting the COP30 Climate Change Conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that in the realm of international politics, we support each other. We share the same position on the Palestinian issue as well as on the situation in Ukraine. We both call for an immediate ceasefire and a genuine peace, moving toward a political settlement based on a two-state solution,\u201d President Prabowo explained.<\/p>\n

In a warm and cordial atmosphere, President Prabowo also expressed his deep admiration for President Lula\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n
