President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (26\/10) participated in the 28th<\/sup> ASEAN-Japan Summit at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia. The summit marked the further strengthening of the strategic partnership that has been in place for over five decades between ASEAN and Japan.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for Japan\u2019s support of ASEAN centrality and further commitment to peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.<\/p>\n

\u201cASEAN and Japan have long been partners to promote peace, prosperity, and connectivity in the Indo-Pacific region. In the world of uncertainty, our partnership has been a strong anchor to peace and stability in the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President also emphasized the importance of further strengthening an inclusive economy to implement the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the RCEP. Besides, he extended collaboration in the digital economy and financial connectivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the time to promote mutual principles through meaningful cooperation that benefits our people. The economic relationship between ASEAN and Japan has been advanced and adapted to the world changes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of energy transition as a top priority. He welcomed the Japan partnership for clean energy, including hydrogen, electric mobility, and sustainable fuel.<\/p>\n

\u201cA partnership with Japan in hydrogen development, electric mobility, and sustainable fuel is crucial to show our vision,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

In the occasion, the President also underlined the importance of people-centered partnership. He noted some programs, including the youth exchange, skill development, and academic partnership to prepare young leaders of ASEAN-Japan.<\/p>\n
