MSME empowerment and multilateral cooperation in combating cross-border crimes are key to a resilient, just, and sustainable Asia-Pacific region, President Prabowo Subianto has said.<\/p>\n

The President delivered\u00a0his statement at the first session of the APEC Economic Leaders\u2019 Meeting (AELM) held at the Hwabaek International Convention Centre (HICO), Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, Friday (10\/31).<\/p>\n

On that occasion, \u00a0the President also\u00a0underscored that economic growth must be inclusive and benefit everyone, noting that collaboration between the government and private sector should focus on a people-centered economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cAPEC must ensure that the benefits of trade and investment reach everyone so that no economy is left behind. Our public-private collaboration needs to be oriented towards a people-centered cooperation and economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President also highlighted\u00a0Indonesia\u2019s tangible achievements realized through the\u00a0national empowerment program for\u00a0MSME and cooperatives,\u00a0alongside significant\u00a0advancements in digital and financial access, ultimately helping MSMEs integrate into the global value chain.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Indonesia, we are translating this principle to action through our national program, which empowers small businesses and cooperatives to realize their potential, foster prosperity, and contribute to a more sustainable future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Additionally, President Prabowo highlighted serious threats such as smuggling, money laundering, human trafficking, and drug trafficking that could destabilize the region\u2019s economy if not addressed collectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot overcome these dangers alone. Smuggling, fraud, money laundering, people trafficking, and drugs are a real and present danger for the future of the economies of our countries,\u201d he said, adding that Indonesia is currently fighting corruption and greedy businesspeople to foster equitable growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis experience positions Indonesia perhaps as a bridge builder ready to connect advanced and developing economies for the challenges ahead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Head of State concluded his remarks by inviting other leaders to promote\u00a0cooperation with a spirit of multilateralism, ensuring that APEC brings benefits to all people within the region.<\/p>\n
