The Government has reaffirmed its full commitment to accelerating the response to the floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, not only by prioritizing emergency relief but also by advancing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts to restore community livelihoods.<\/p>\n

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno stated that President Prabowo Subianto visited the disaster-hit areas on 1 December to demonstrate the Government\u2019s commitment.<\/p>\n

Speaking at National Disaster Management Post in Halim Perdanakusuma Jakarta Wednesday (12\/3), Pratikno noted that the President is leading cross-ministerial and institutional coordination involving the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), regional governments, and state-owned enterprises.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President has instructed that this situation be treated as a national priority, ensuring that national funding and logistics, including contingency funds (DSP), are fully available. He has instructed all institutions to respond proactively, with a focus on rescuing the affected residents, distributing aids, and restoring vital facilities and services,\u201d Pratikno said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Pratikno added that integrated command posts have been established across regions with support from National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), TNI, Polri, and relevant ministries.<\/p>\n

The distribution of logistics is being accelerated to reach areas cut off by damaged infrastructure, he added.<\/p>\n

Pratikno also noted that Government is heightening its vigilance in response to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast of potentially heavy rainfall through the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Mitigation measures have been prepared to reduce the risk of further disasters in vulnerable areas, he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government remains vigilant and on standby. BMKG has informed us of the potential for heavy to extreme heavy rainfall through the end of the year, including in Aceh, North Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Maluku, and Papua,\u201d said Pratikno.<\/p>\n

The Government has also begun preparing the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase, with a 100-day target and a one-year work plan, while encouraging public monitoring of progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rehabilitation-reconstruction phase has been coordinated, with BNPB continuing to lead the emergency response. The plan is being prepared with a 100-day target and a one-year timeline, enabling the public to monitor measurable progress. The Government\u2019s focus is not only on distributing logistics such as rice and instant noodles, but also on ensuring that citizens have hope and the ability to rebuild their lives,\u201d the Minister explained.<\/p>\n

Pratikno also apologized for any shortcomings in the field response, emphasizing that improvements are being made continuously, every hour, every minute.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President\u2019s instruction is very clear: \u00a0all resources \u2013 central government agencies, ministries, TNI, Polri, BNPB – must be mobilized so that every hour and every minute there is improvement, acceleration, and a high responsiveness in meeting public needs. We also express our appreciation for the solidarity shown by Indonesians who are contributing to help their fellow citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Pratikno also conveyed his deep condolences to the victims affected by the disaster.<\/p>\n
