President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Islamabad on Monday (12\/08) at around 12.00 local time to fulfill an official invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, receiving full military honors that underscored the strength of Indonesia\u2019s strategic partnership with Pakistan.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo and his delegation, aboard the presidential aircraft Garuda Indonesia-1, were accorded a special welcome even before landing. As the plane entered Pakistani airspace, six JF-17 Thunder fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force formed an escort, a gesture reserved exclusively for visiting heads of state.<\/p>\n

Upon arriving at Nur Khan Base Airport, President Prabowo was welcomed in person by Pakistan\u2019s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Ambassador Chandra Warsenanto and Defense Attach\u00e9 Colonel Inf. Henru Hidayat Susanto were present on behalf of Indonesia. A guard of honor, a 21-gun salute, and flowers from a young Pakistani child contributed to a warm and respectful reception.<\/p>\n

This visit carries significant historical meaning as it coincides with the 75th<\/sup> anniversary of Indonesia\u2013Pakistan diplomatic relations. President Prabowo\u2019s arrival also revives the bonds of friendship forged during President Sukarno\u2019s 1950 visit, a moment regarded as the basis of the strong relationship between the two nations.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz had extended the invitation for this visit on two occasions, first during the D-8 Summit in Cairo and the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The Indonesian Government views this visit as a strategic opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation amid ongoing regional and global geopolitical developments.<\/p>\n

During the visit, President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia\u2019s commitment to fostering solidarity, enhancing cooperation, and building mutually advantageous partnerships with Pakistan and other friendly nations.<\/p>\n
