The Government is participating in the bidding process for land located in the Western Hindawiyah area, approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Masjidil Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

The bidding process has now entered the final stage and out of approximately 90 plots of land offered, Indonesia has advanced to the top two candidates.<\/p>\n

This update was conveyed by Minister of Investment\/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) who also serves as CEO of BPI Danantara (Indonesia\u2019s Investment Management Agency) Rosan Roeslani after reporting to President Prabowo Subianto on plans for the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca on Wednesday (12\/17).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe second location is in the bidding process. The sixth location is in Western Hindawiyyah. It\u2019s almost the same distance, 2.5 kilometers from Masjidil Haram,\u201d Rosan said.<\/p>\n

Rosan emphasized that Saudi Arabia\u2019s bidding mechanism is not based on price offers, but based on evaluations of development plans, design, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards. He said that the bidding results are expected to be announced soon. \u201cPossibly by the end of this month or January,\u201d Rosan added.<\/p>\n

He also noted that all developments have been reported to President Prabowo. If Indonesia can secure the land, the Government is optimistic about providing more optimal services to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we obtain that land, insha Allah<\/em>, all our Hajj pilgrims can be served with very good and decent facilities, much closer than the current situation, and this will certainly enhance their devotion during Umrah and Hajj,\u201d Rosan stated.<\/p>\n

He went on to say that the development of the Indonesian Hajj Village is designed in two separate locations to manage pilgrim traffic and logistics more effectively. He confirmed that the previously purchased land holds freehold ownership status, effective from January next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will only be valid in January according to the new law that now permits foreign institutions to own property. So this is freehold ownership both in Mecca and Medina,\u201d Rosan explained.<\/p>\n

He underlined that this marks the first land in Mecca owned by a non-Saudi institution. He noted that the Saudi government now views Indonesia as a serious and fully committed partner in development, particularly in Mecca and Medina as well.<\/p>\n
