President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (01\/01) expressed his appreciation to ministries and institutions, regional governments, and field personnel for their prompt and coordinated efforts in post-disaster response across the island of Sumatra.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President also extended his highest respect for field personnel, soldiers, and all relevant parties for their outstanding dedication in fulfilling their duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to extend my appreciation to our officers on the ground and to our soldiers across the country. I ask all ministries and institutions to assess their personnel for their commendable performance. If they have performed well, please keep a record it so that we can properly acknowledge and honor them in the future,\u201d the President said during a limited meeting at the Danantara housing construction site in Aceh Tamiang regency, Aceh province.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also emphasized that the Government\u2019s foremost priority is to alleviate the suffering of the people.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, post-disaster recovery is being pursued with the highest level of commitment, supported by a substantial budget allocation to ensure a comprehensive and effective response.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, ladies and gentlemen, we take this matter very seriously, and we will do everything within our capacity to help. A substantial budget has been allocated to address this issue,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President commended the housing development completed in a remarkably short timeframe by the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), describing it as an achievement worthy of appreciation.<\/p>\n

However, the President also offered several suggestions for improvement, particularly regarding housing comfort, such as implementing simple and affordable measures using locally available materials to reduce heat from zinc roofing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe solution can be made from local materials, such as wickerwork or palm fiber, or by adding a layer beneath the zinc roof. It does not have to be expensive – simple solutions can be just as effective. For example, textiles could be placed under the zinc roofing. Such approaches will rely on the creativity of personnel on the ground,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also instructed Danantara to enhance coordination with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and local governments, including governors and regents, to ensure that development initiatives are well-aligned, avoid \u00a0overlap and make effective use of available resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe key is strict coordination. Consult with the local government, especially the governor, and let the governor determine the most urgent priorities. Also consult with the regent as well so that BNPB can ensure our resources are used effectively, avoiding overlap and waste. Everything must be directed immediately toward assisting our people,\u201d the President remarked.
