President Prabowo Subianto stated that the Government\u2019s accomplishments in his first year in office are a source of pride. He emphasized that the national transformation strategy presented to the public since his candidacy was clearly defined, measurable, and grounded in long-term research.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we have achieved, in my view, is very encouraging. We are moving forward before the people with a strategy \u2014 a written, measurable strategy developed through decades of study,\u201d said President Prabowo during his Start-of-Year Briefing to all members of the Red and White Cabinet at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, Tuesday (1\/6).<\/p>\n

The President emphasized that the core essence of this strategy is to build an independent and self-sufficient Indonesia. He stated that, in this context, food self-sufficiency is a key and non-negotiable pillar of national resilience.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Indonesian nation must be independent and stand on its own feet, and the key to this is food self-sufficiency. No nation can be truly independent if it cannot guarantee food for its people,\u201d the President emphasized.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also explained that food self-sufficiency means meeting all of the nation\u2019s food needs, not only rice but also other sources of carbohydrates and protein. He further stressed that, beyond food, energy self-sufficiency is also a crucial foundation for national prosperity.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIf we remain dependent on other nations for our energy, we will never achieve prosperity and will never be able to break free from poverty,\u201d said the President.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo also believes that current global dynamics further underscore the importance of this self-reliance strategy. He highlighted conflicts in several major global food-supplying countries, as well as Indonesia\u2019s experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, as reminders of the risks of dependence on external sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have also experienced COVID. All food-exporting countries were in decline, and we could not import food even when we had the money,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

During the briefing, the President also expressed his gratitude for Indonesia\u2019s success in achieving rice self-sufficiency ahead of the initial four-year target. He also stated that the Government\u2019s rice reserves are currently at their highest level in the history of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, our rice reserves in government warehouses exceed 3 million tons.
