President Prabowo Subianto (01\/22) emphasized the importance of peace and stability for growth and prosperity amid global uncertainties.<\/p>\n

The statement was made by the President in his keynote speech at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, in Davos, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistory teaches us that peace and stability are our most valuable assets. Peace and stability are the ultimate prerequisites for growth and prosperity. There will be no prosperity without peace,\u201d he firmly said.<\/p>\n

In the forum attended by global leaders, businesspersons, and international policy makers, the President also unveiled Indonesia\u2019s economic performance, which is described as \u2018a global bright spot\u2019 by the IMF.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecently, the IMF described Indonesia\u2019s economy as, I quote, \u2018a global bright spot\u2019 with strong economic growth amid a challenging external environment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to the President, Indonesia\u2019s economy continues to grow consistently while the world had faced tightening financial conditions, trade tensions, and political uncertainty. In addition, Indonesia has successfully maintained macroeconomic stability, including inflation rate and budget deficit.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur inflation rate remained at around 2 percent. Our government deficit is now kept below 3 percent of our GDP,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The President went on to say that international recognition of Indonesia\u2019s economy is not based on unfounded optimism, but based on concrete evidence and policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey recognize that Indonesia\u2019s economy is resilient. Our policies have been and will always be well calibrated,\u201d he said, adding that peace and stability in Indonesia over the years did not happen by chance, but took place because Indonesia always chooses unity and collaboration in facing challenges.<\/p>\n

In his speech, President Prabowo also underscored the importance of credibility for a state, particularly in managing its finance and international responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndonesia in our history has never once defaulted on our payments of our debts. Never once,\u201d he said, emphasizing that Indonesia has always fulfilled its financial obligations, regardless of changes in government.<\/p>\n
