The commitment was conveyed by Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugiono in a statement delivered in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, Friday (01\/23), following President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s attendance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Minister explained that one of the President\u2019s key agendas was the signing of the Charter of the Board of Peace, which represents the continuation of a lengthy process of dialogue and meetings among a number of countries, particularly Islamic countries and those with Muslim-majority populations, regarding the situation in Palestine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cThe signing of the Charter of the Board of Peace is part of the process that we have consistently undertaken in order to resolve the conflict, achieve peace, and carry out post-conflict rehabilitation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to the Minister, the agreement to establish the BoP was driven by a shared commitment to ensuring more concrete international engagement in the pursuit of lasting peace in Gaza. These discussions subsequently continued until a meeting in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, which served as the momentum for the signing of the Board of Peace Charter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cIn essence, the Board of Peace is an officially established international body tasked with monitoring administration, stabilization, and rehabilitation efforts in Gaza in particular and in Palestine more broadly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Minister Sugiono further noted that Indonesia views its participation as essential, given its longstanding and consistent support for international peace and stability, especially with regard to Palestine. Although the formation of the body proceeded relatively quickly, President Prabowo Subianto decided that Indonesia should become a member of the BoP after carefully considering various strategic aspects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cFrom the very beginning, Indonesia has consistently placed great importance on peace and international stability, particularly with the situation in Palestine. Since the Board of Peace is part of the effort to achieve that peace, it is imperative that we take part,\u201d the Minister emphasized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The decision was also reached through intensive consultations with countries within the Group of New York. The Minister revealed that several countries agreed to join, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, T\u00fcrkiye, Pakistan, Egypt, and Indonesia. \u201cTwo days prior to the signing, all parties agreed to join the Board of Peace,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Minister expressed his confidence that the establishment of the BoP represents a concrete and long-awaited step in overseeing the Palestinian peace process. The presence of these countries is expected to ensure that all actions undertaken remain oriented toward Palestinian independence and the realization of a two-state solution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWe will ensure that the efforts carried out by the Board of Peace remain focused on Palestinian independence and the achievement of a two-state solution,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In closing, the Minister stressed that the Board of Peace is not intended to replace the role of the United Nations. \u201cThis body is not meant to replace the UN. It is an international body established out of concern for promoting peace and stability, particularly in Gaza.
