President Prabowo Subianto (01\/28) convened a meeting with a number of Red and White Cabinet ministers, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to discuss the implementation of natural resources management policies, particularly in the mineral and coal mining sectors for national interest.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the discussion focused on ensuring that the Indonesia\u2019s natural resources are managed for the interest of the nation, including efforts to optimize state revenue.<\/p>\n

The Minister added that the management of Indonesia\u2019s natural resources should take into account business sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must know how to manage the natural resources in a way that increases the state revenue while still taking business interest into account,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Minister further stated that the President instructed policymakers at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to promptly formulate policies that serve the broader national interest, emphasizing that natural resources must be managed for the greatest benefit of the people, as mandated by Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The Minister added that the Government would continue conducting studies and discussions to ensure the management of Indonesia\u2019s natural resources remains balanced among the interests of the state, the business sector, and public welfare, as increased state revenue from natural resource utilization will ultimately enhance the well-being of the people.
