The Honorable Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Anthony Albanese, along with ministers and senior officials,
\nDistinguished members of the media,<\/p>\n

I am very pleased to once again welcome my friend, Prime Minister Albanese, to Jakarta. This visit also provides an opportunity for me to reciprocate the warm hospitality extended to me during my visit to Sydney in November 2025. On this auspicious occasion, allow me to convey my congratulations on Australia Day, commemorated on January 26, 2026.<\/p>\n

Australia is one of Indonesia\u2019s closest neighbors and a strategic partner. Our two countries share a long-standing friendship. We also remember that Australia supported Indonesia\u2019s fight for independence from the very beginning, following our proclamation in 1945.<\/p>\n

Today, Prime Minister Albanese and I reaffirmed our close ties and shared commitment to further strengthening the Indonesia\u2013Australia partnership through the signing of a Joint Security Treaty. This agreement reflects both countries\u2019 determination to work closely in safeguarding our respective national security and to contribute meaningfully to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. For Indonesia, this also underscores our firm commitment to the principles of good neighbourliness and to an independent, active foreign policy.<\/p>\n

Indonesia and Australia are destined to live side by side, and we choose to build this relationship on mutual trust and goodwill. Indonesia seeks friendship with all nations and does not wish to have any enemies. We believe this agreement will serve as an important pillar for stability and cooperation in our region.<\/p>\n

Distinguished guests,<\/p>\n

During today\u2019s meeting, Prime Minister Albanese and I also discussed several priority agendas.<\/p>\n

In the agricultural sector, I invited Australia to develop joint ventures in agriculture in both countries to support Indonesia\u2019s mission to strengthen food security.<\/p>\n

I also invited Australia to invest in Indonesia\u2019s downstream processing of critical minerals, including nickel, copper, bauxite, and gold. At the same time, we encourage Indonesian companies to invest in Australia\u2019s critical minerals mining sector. Danantara stands ready to collaborate with its Australian partners to explore co-investment opportunities and other forms of partnership.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Albanese and I also discussed cooperation in education and skilled labor. I invited Australia to support our mission to strengthen Indonesia\u2019s education system through training programs and capacity-building initiatives for teachers and educators who will be placed in the new universities and schools we are currently developing. In this regard, I express my appreciation for Australia\u2019s support through the Australia Awards Garuda Scholarships.<\/p>\n

Indonesia has competent human resources who can help meet Australia\u2019s demand for skilled workers. Therefore, I proposed expanding the Mutual Recognition Agreement on professional certification, so that Indonesian professionals can contribute more significantly to Australia\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

In closing, I invited Prime Minister Albanese to attend the Ocean Impact Summit in Bali this June. I am confident that his presence will help ensure the Summit delivers concrete outcomes and further advances our cooperation in maritime affairs. We must understand that the ocean is a shared interest for all nations, especially for our two countries.<\/p>\n
