President Prabowo Subianto moved swiftly to address the housing problems faced by residents living in slum areas along the railway tracks in Senen, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n

Following his visit on Thursday (03\/26) during which he spoke with residents and heard firsthand about their hardships and harsh living conditions under severe constraints, the President ordered his administration to build decent housing for them.<\/p>\n

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that, immediately after the visit, the President instructed the relevant officials, including Minister of Public Works, President Director of state-owned house developer Perumnas and President Director of state-owned railway operator PT KAI, to accelerate efforts to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n

The instruction, Teddy added, was acted upon immediately, underscoring the Government\u2019s commitment to ensure that the initial stages of developing the new housing begin promptly, without prolonged delays.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, the team has begun preparation for the construction of new housing, which will be built not far from the resident\u2019s original settlement area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to the residents, they have lived for decades along the railway tracks in cramped shelters with limited space and inadequate roofing.<\/p>\n

The President wants them to be provided decent homes, including proper toilets and bathrooms as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

This initiative is more than a relocation program; it is a humanitarian effort designed to ensure that residents remain close to their social networks and sources livelihoods. The Government also aims to provide safer housing and comprehensively improve their overall quality of life.
