President Prabowo Subianto attends the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Monday (03\/30)<\/p><\/div>\n

President Prabowo Subianto affirmed Indonesia\u2019s strong commitment to comprehensively transform the economy, strengthen strategic partnership, and accelerate transition towards green economy in his keynote speech at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Monday (03\/30).<\/p>\n

The President added that Indonesia currently carries out major transformation towards clean and renewable energy. This measure is crucial for Indonesia\u2019s energy security amid global uncertainty and geopolitical situation in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the next three years, we eye for developing 100 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity. For us, this goal is urgent considering the latest situation on the ground,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In addition to solar energy, Indonesia also has enormous potential in other renewable energy resources including geothermal and biofuel.<\/p>\n

According to the President, Indonesia has one of the largest geothermal reserves in the world and is currently accelerating the production of palm oil\u2013based fuels, increasing the biodiesel blend from 40 percent to 50 percent, and developing ethanol-based fuels as well as various other plant-based commodities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough these efforts, we will secure a favorable position to face uncertainties,\u201d he added, underscoring the importance to maintain stable economic condition amid increasingly complex global geopolitical situation.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo went on to say that Indonesia is open to borderless economy, depending on international trade and partnership. Indonesia, therefore, consistently pursues an independent and active foreign policy, guided by the principle of fostering the widest possible friendships.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019One thousand friends are too few, one enemy is too many\u2019 is our philosophy. Indonesia is situated in favorable stance since we have no enemy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the current global geopolitical landscape has shown that countries able to maintain good relations with various parties including major world powers would stand in a more rational and prudent position. Therefore, good relations with Japan as Indonesia\u2019s partner must continue to be strengthened.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also emphasized that he is committed to implement the people\u2019s mandate, namely creating clean and efficient governance.<\/p>\n

In the economic sector, Indonesia\u2019s strategic transformation includes increasing value-added production, reducing dependence on raw material exports, and encouraging industrialization to improve overall welfare of the people.<\/p>\n

In addition, President Prabowo urged the importance of preserving natural resources and reforestation for the sake of Indonesia and the world.<\/p>\n

With great vision, swift action, and concrete goals, Indonesia is ready to lead the age of green energy and industry and become a strategic partner that is stable, open, and promising for the world.
