President Prabowo attends the 16th National Conference of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association at Jakarta Convention Center, on Saturday (04\/11).<\/p><\/div>\n

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Pencak Silat<\/em> (Indonesian martial arts) is a fundamental strength of the nation, which not only builds physical strength but also shapes national character and identity. Pencak silat<\/em> has a complete dimension, more than merely a sport or a martial art.<\/p>\n

\u201cPencak silat<\/em> is indeed a sport; it is a martial art. But more than that, it reflects Indonesian personality,\u201d said President Prabowo in his address during the 16th<\/sup> National Conference of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association for the 2026-2030 term of office at Jakarta International Convention Center on Saturday (04\/11).<\/p>\n

The ultimate strength in pencak silat<\/em> is not only in its physical ability but also in the depth of its knowledge and humility, including the bravery to protect.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn almost all pencak silat<\/em> schools, and I think in all martial arts around the world, all teachers teach the value of defending ourselves, our families, our villages, our people, and our nations,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

The President acknowledged its contribution to creating a resilient society. When there is a strong people, there is a strong nation, he added.<\/p>\n

From a historical perspective, the President recalled the fight to address challenges from invaders for hundreds of years. During that period, although pencak silat<\/em> was prohibited by the invaders, it had been part of the fight that should be continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a time when pencak silat<\/em> was banned. Then, at night, teachers taught pencak silat<\/em> on the hills, mountains, and in mosques,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
