The Indonesian Government has offered its Russian counterpart the opportunity to enhance long-term investment cooperation in the energy sector.<\/p>\n

This cooperation includes energy supply and strategic investment in the development of energy infrastructure in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, in a press statement at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (04\/16), said this move is a follow-up to the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday (04\/13).<\/p>\n

\u201cRussia is prepared to build several critical infrastructure projects to enhance our national energy reserves and resilience,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Government is also discussing investment schemes that will flow into Indonesia, particularly for refinery and storage projects that are considered to have high strategic value. The finalization of these investments still requires several rounds of further discussions between the two countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are indeed several of their investments ready to proceed, but the finalization will require one or two rounds of discussions, especially for the refinery and storage projects,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Minister explained that the planned investment falls under a long-term cooperation scheme, involving both government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) mechanisms.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis cooperation is long-term, so we are utilizing both G2G and B2B approaches. Regarding storage, it is included in the agreement we reached yesterday,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

This cooperation is part of the Government’s strategy to diversify energy sources and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global landscape. By offering investment opportunities to various countries, including Russia, Indonesia aims to ensure sustainable development in the energy sector and maximize economic benefits for the nation.<\/p>\n

The Government emphasized that this step is in line with the principle of free and active diplomacy, which is also applied in economic and investment policies, while continuing to prioritize national interests.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Indonesian Government has always upheld a free and active policy, and this also applies to our economy. So, we can do business anywhere, as long as we remain committed to the people or countries with whom we have established partnerships,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This move allows Indonesia to secure its energy supply while accelerating the development of critical infrastructure that will support the country’s energy self-sufficiency and future economic growth.
