The Government is set to conduct a thorough investigation and expedite the improvement of the railroad safety system following the train collision in Bekasi city, West Java province, on Monday (04\/27).<\/p>\n

President Prabowo Subianto made the statement after visiting injured victims at dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid General Regional Hospital in Bekasi city, Tuesday (04\/28).<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I came to the hospital in Bekasi. Certainly, we are all concerned and taken aback by the accident that has occurred. I express my sincere condolences on my own behalf and on behalf of the Government. We will shortly conduct an investigation into the accident,\u201d he said to the press.<\/p>\n

The President also highlighted numerous railroad crossings that have not been equipped with an adequate safety system.<\/p>\n

\u201cOverall, we noticed that many railroad crossings are uncontrolled. We will immediately resolve the issue,\u201d he said, adding that he has approved the construction of flyovers in Bekasi to reduce risks of accidents, given the region\u2019s high traffic density.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe regional government of Bekasi has proposed to build flyovers to overcome the [traffic] density in Bekasi. There is a highly urgent need for a railroad, so I agreed to disburse Presidential aid to build the flyovers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Head of State pointed out that approximately 1,800 crossings on the island of Java need to be managed and that he has ordered accelerated improvement through various schemes, including flyover construction and safety system enhancement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now focusing on resolving those issues. I have made the order, and we will fix issues with the crossings, either by installing control posts or building flyovers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President also stated that most of the victims have received proper medical treatment, and some others have been discharged.<\/p>\n
