Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo Tuesday (05\/05) reaffirmed his commitment to promptly implementing all recommendations on police reform following the meeting with President Prabowo Subianto and the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission (KPRP) at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.<\/p>\n

According to Listyo, the meeting mainly reviewed the commission\u2019s findings and outlined the future course of police reform, particularly strengthening governance and institutional oversight within the National Police.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Police will promptly act on the recommendations that we believe can further strengthen our institution,\u201d he told reporters, adding that the National Police is prepared to implement the recommended measures in stages.<\/p>\n

The Police Chief also pointed out that among the top priority agendas are efforts to strengthen the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) and to coordinate with relevant ministries in following up on the placement of police personnel in positions outside the National Police\u2019s organizational structure.<\/p>\n

\u201cStrengthening the Kompolnas is certainly one of the steps that we will soon take. We will soon hold a meeting with Coordinating Minister of Law to discuss the placement of police personnel in posts outside our organizational structure,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Listyo further stated that the National Police has drawn up a reform roadmap divided into short-, medium-, and long-term phases as part of efforts to strengthen institutional governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for governance issues, we have formulated the short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies. In principle, the National Police accept the recommendations from the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission and will shortly take follow-up actions,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

This quick response strongly indicates that the police reform agenda has now moved into a new phase, shifting from the merely drafting recommendations to beginning concrete implementation on the ground.
