President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (7\/5) arrived at the General Aviation (Gen-AV) Terminal of Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) in Cebu, the Philippines at 1:45 PM local time.<\/p>\n

The President is in Cebu to attend the 48th<\/sup> ASEAN Summit, which is being held on May 7-8, 2026.<\/p>\n

Upon arriving in Cebu, the President was welcomed by the National Security Advisor of the Republic of the Philippines, Eduardo Oban. The President was greeted at the foot of the aircraft stairs with an honor guard and a performance of Philippine traditional dances, and also received a bouquet of flowers from the host country.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival in the Philippines provided a special highlight of the visit. For the first time on an overseas visit, the Head of State was picked up by a Maung car, a light tactical vehicle produced by Indonesia’s national defense industry.<\/p>\n

“During his stay in the Philippines, the President will use this vehicle, which is known as a tough light tactical vehicle,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet Secretary added this tactical vehicle, widely recognized for its durability and used in various operations and for national needs, also underscores the ongoing advancement of Indonesia\u2019s domestic defense industry through the President\u2019s use of the Maung during his international engagements.<\/p>\n

“The Maung has been developed since Pak <\/em>Prabowo served as Minister of Defense. Currently, production at Pindad, Indonesia\u2019s state-owned defense manufacturer, has reached 3,200 units, which have been deployed in various operations and for domestic needs. The President has also used the Maung since his inauguration as President of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, 2024,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet Secretary further stated that the use of the Maung at the 48th<\/sup> ASEAN Summit serves not only as a means of transportation, but also a symbol of national independence, national confidence, and the advancement of Indonesian industrial technology.<\/p>\n

“The use of the Maung at this international forum is not merely a means of transportation, but a symbol of independence, national confidence, and advancement of Indonesia’s national industry. The Maung has become a symbol of diplomacy,” Teddy continued.<\/p>\n
