President Prabowo Subianto Saturday (05\/09) inspected the Red-and-White Fishing Village in South Leato village, Gorontalo city.<\/p>\n

The visit marked a concrete step by the Government to build a fisheries ecosystem that boosts fishermen’s productivity and increases the added value of marine products through integrated infrastructure and facilities in coastal areas managed by the Red-and-White Village\/Sub-district Cooperatives.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Head of State reviewed a number of facilities built on 3,895 square meters of land to support fishermen’s activities and the distribution of chain of fishery products from upstream to downstream.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, the President examined display panels and several key facilities and held a dialogue with local fishermen.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, President Prabowo Subianto said the development of the Red-and-White Fishing Village is part of the Government’s commitment to improving fishermen’s welfare by providing integrated supporting facilities.<\/p>\n

The Head of State emphasized that the facilities that have been built, including ice plants and cold storage units, form a crucial foundation for increasing productivity and enhancing value of fishermen’s catches.<\/p>\n

“This is indeed our goal: to empower all fishermen in Indonesia. We want every fisherman in this country to enjoy a better life. Their income must increase because fishermen play a very important role in our nation,” the President before hundreds of fishermen.<\/p>\n

This area has considerable capture fisheries potential, with mackerel, skipjack tuna, and tuna as its main commodities, serving as a primary source of income for local communities and as key fishery products of Gorontalo City.<\/p>\n

The President’s visit to South Leato reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to realizing development that directly benefits grassroots communities, particularly fishermen who have long been among the pillars of national food security. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS\/EP)<\/strong><\/p>\n
