President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Ibu<\/em> Marsinah Museum and Shelter House in Nglundo village, Sukomoro district, Nganjuk regency, East Java province, on Saturday (05\/16). The inauguration reflects the state\u2019s tribute to Marsinah\u2019s long-standing struggle for human rights and labor rights, while also reaffirming the Government\u2019s commitment to supporting the labor movement in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Upon arriving at the site, President Prabowo first visited the house where Marsinah had lived during her lifetime. The Head of State also met and greeted Marsinah\u2019s extended family.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, President Prabowo toured the Ibu<\/em> Marsinah Museum and Shelter House complex, situated on a 938-square-meter site. The complex consists of two main buildings, namely a memorial museum and a shelter house, both of which are expected to serve as spaces for education and reflection for the public.<\/p>\n

Inside the museum, President Prabowo viewed a collection of Marsinah\u2019s personal belongings on display, ranging from her factory work uniform, bag, wallet, and bicycle to personal documents such as her elementary and senior high school certificates. Several awards from labor organizations were also exhibited as part of the record of Marsinah\u2019s struggle in advocating for labor rights.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, President Prabowo stated that the inauguration of the Ibu<\/em> Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk regency marked an important moment to commemorate the labor struggle while honoring Marsinah\u2019s courage as a symbol of ordinary people\u2019s fight for rights and justice.<\/p>\n

The Head of State noted that the establishment of such a museum was a rare occasion, as it was specifically dedicated to commemorating the labor struggle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is perhaps a rare occasion. Perhaps this is the first labor museum in the world. But please check, there may others as well. Nevertheless, this is a rare event,\u201d President Prabowo said.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also emphasized that the Ibu<\/em> Marsinah Museum was built as a symbol and milestone commemorating the struggle of a young woman who fought for labor rights and became a symbol of the struggle of ordinary people who lacked power and influence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe this museum was established as a tribute, a symbol, and a milestone to commemorate the courage of a fighter, a young fighter, a woman fighter who fought for the rights of workers,\u201d President Prabowo remarked.<\/p>\n

Following his remarks, President Prabowo signed the inscription plaque to officially inaugurate the Ibu<\/em> Marsinah Museum and Shelter House. The presence of the Ibu<\/em> Marsinah Museum is expected to become a historical educational tourism destination in Nganjuk regency, while also serving as a learning space for younger generations on the importance of social justice, the protection of human rights, and respect for the labor struggle in Indonesia.
