Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

As faithful individuals, let us offer our praise and gratitude to the Almighty God, the Most Exalted, Allah\u00a0subhanahu wa ta’ala,<\/em> for all the blessings and good health bestowed upon us, which have enabled us to gather here this afternoon for a historic and proud occasion: the Groundbreaking of Downstreaming Phase II, encompassing 13 strategic downstreaming projects with a total value of approximately Rp116 trillion. This phase includes five projects in the energy sector, five in the mineral sector, and three in the agriculture sector. As mentioned earlier, Phase I comprised 13 projects spread in 13 locations, and this year we will add more downstreaming projects, perhaps six additional projects, and will continue to expand them. Insyallah<\/em>, there will be Phases IV, V, VI as well, hopefully within\u00a0this year.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Downstreaming is the path toward Indonesia\u2019s national awakening. What we are undertaking across many sectors during the first year of the Government under my leadership is the strengthening of foundations laid by our previous leaders, from the first to the seventh President. I wish to stress here that the awakening of a nation, nation-building, and a nation\u2019s success are long and arduous journeys, not light ones.<\/p>\n

Since we prcolaimed independence in 1945, our nation has been repeatedly battered. We have fought wars – not ordinary wars, but struggles against major powers. We engaged in physical conflict with great countries, victors of the Second World War: England, Netherlands. After that came an even more devastating ideological war. Our land became an arena where two great ideologies collided: communism and capitalism. We stood in the middle, bearing the impact.<\/p>\n

In the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, the world has effectively become smaller because of technological advances. What happens in distant parts of the globe now affects us directly;. we cannot escape it. Events in Ukraine impacts, for example, have had an impact on global corn, wheat, and oil prices. Likewise,\u00a0 the war in Gaza, the conflict in the Persian Gulf, and the war involving Iran and America-Israel. have all sent shockwaves through global markets, particularly energy and related commodities.<\/p>\n

So Ladies and Gentlemen, this shows that a nation’s awakening demands hard work and continuity. A nation cannot rise in just one moment or under one leader; it is a relay across generations. From my study of the history of world development, I am convinced of one thing: the only path that truly leads to a nation\u2019s awakening is nationalism<\/strong>\u2014love for the homeland and national unity. This truth is well understood by great powers, by countries that seek hegemony. It is human nature: the bigger and stronger they are, the more they desire domination, the more they want to control others, my brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n

And what is it that they seek to control? Resources. Resources. The great powers of the world came to this archipelago hundreds of years ago for one reason: because this land \u00a0is rich. They came here to seek and to seize wealth, driven by the desire to dominate. They exercised control by seizing the trade chains and by physically taking hold of the very sources of those resources<\/p>\n

A nation that seeks independence, a nation that wants to remain truly independent, must be both capable and courageous. Or rather, it must first be brave, and then capable. It must have the courage and the capacty to control its own national resources. A nation blessed by God with extraordinary riches in natural resources, if it lacks capability and courage, will remain poor forever.<\/p>\n

This underlines that a nation\u2019s awakening demands hard work and continuity. Time and again, I must restate a conviction shaped by my study of the history of global development: the only true path to a successful nation is nationalism, love for the homeland, and national unity. Great nations understand this well. Those that aspirie to hegemony are driven by human nature: the larger and stronger they become, \u00a0the greater their desire to dominate and to control.<\/p>\n

So ladies and gentlemen, courage also means a nation\u2019s resolve to take control of its own resources and to process those resources domestically. This is where downstreaming becomes vital. Downstreaming is the only path that will enable us to become more prosperous.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

That is why today I feel both happy and proud. At the beginning of my administration, I was very clear with my ministers: \u201cPlease do not invite me to groundbreaking ceremonies. I only want to attend inaugurations when the projects are completed.\u201d But today is an exception, because this groundbreaking is so important and encompasses so many projects that I believe I must be here. I am here to offer encouragement and to pay tribute to all those who have worked hard to prepare these initiatives.<\/p>\n

These projects did not simply fall from the sky. They are the fruit of long and careful thinking – decades of ideas and reflection, perhaps. They arise from the vision, aspirations, dreams of Indonesia\u2019s leaders, technocrats, and scientists who have sought to bring these concepts to life. We do not want to remain a country that only sells raw materials. We do not want to be a nation that merely exports coconuts. We want to process their derivatives products here in Indonesia, so that the added value benefits our people.<\/p>\n

Indonesian farmers, fishermen, labors have lived without decent welfare for far too long. Too long. It has been too long that our economic and natural resources have been controlled by traders who lack any sense of nationalism. We give mining concessions, plantation concessions, credits from state-owned banks, and people\u2019s banks. Yet, when they succeed, their profits are not reinvested in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Indonesia no longer wishes this situation continue. As the mandate holder entrusted by the Indonesian people, I allso refuse to allow such practices to persist. I want Indonesia\u2019s national wealth and resources to be in our own hands and to be enjoyed by the Indonesian people themselves.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,\u00a0you\u00a0are the main actors in this endeavor. You who work at Danantara, at SOEs, you\u00a0 now caryy the nation\u2019s hopes. You are the patriots our people are counting on. Our soldiers and police serve as shields, protectors, but\u00a0it is you who\u00a0must turn this vision into reality.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen, I appeal to you. \u00a0Let your love for this nation and for our people move yout to act on their behalf. This is a golden opportunity, a truly golden opportunity. We already recognize the extent of our wealth; we comprehend it, we see the data. Now the real question is whether we are able to manage it.<\/p>\n

Now is the time for our technocrats, our scientists, our engineers, and our professors to stand red-white professors \u2013 defenders of the people, tengineers for the nation and for the people. They must place their knowledge in the service of Indonesia. Do not use your intelligence to deceive the people and the nation. Do not use your cleverness to conceal corruption and plunder. Do not use your expertise to enrich other countries.<\/p>\n

We do not harbor hatred toward other nations. What we reject is the reality that our people remain poor while our money is taken abroad. If that is the path some wish to follow, go ahead, but \u00a0do not join the government that I lead. Everyone is free choose: to stand in defense of theirown people, or to serve the interests of others. I will not tolerate those who lack patriotism. No matter how smart you amay be, if you do not defend your own nation, then there is no place for at my side. Find someone else to work with.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen, this downstreaming project is historical. A nation\u2019s journey, as I described, is long and difficult, like a\u00a0long march. This is a nation’s\u00a0long march. We were colonized, pitted against each other, infiltrated, incited rebellions upon rebellions, including the DI\/TII, People’s Army of Ratu Adil, RMS, PGRS\/Paraku, PRRI (Permesta). Then this movement and that movement. Then they made us what? A dark Indonesia. Clouded eyes, a dark Indonesia. In fact, Indonesia is bright.<\/p>\n

Some want to flee. Flee then. Flee to wherever you want. Maybe to Yemen. Please, go ahead. Hey, smart people, open your eyes, read the news. Look: today Indonesia is being placed among the safest countries in the world now. \u201cJust flee.” Yes, flee so we don’t have commotion.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Whatever happens, our only purpose is to work for the people. I am here today to recognize and appreciate your hard work. My thanks go to all parties who have prepared this. This is a massive effort. Is there any other country that is pushing downstreaming like we are? We already have 26 sites, and we may add six more. That means this year we could see 30 to 40 major projects moving forward.<\/p>\n

Soon we will inaugurate 1,000 Red-White Cooperatives, possibly in 2-3 weeks. After that, in 2-3 months, more than 25,000 cooperatives. Not just on paper, but physical cooperatives. With warehouses, cold storage, outlets, and vehicles. Many will have dryers. Check history, I ask you to check world history. Is there any country who build 25,000 or 30,000 cooperatives and completed within one year?<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

We must not be a nation with low self-esteem, with an inferiority complex, always thinking foreign nations are superior. Many countries are now learning about the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) from us. Where else is there a country that can provide meals for more than 60 million people five times a week, including pregnant mothers and vulnerable elderly people? Show me which country. Perhaps China, but China took off earlier than us.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

These announced projects are just the beginning. We are going to process everything: nickel, bauxite, even coal, even agricultural commodities, so that added value is created here in Indonesia for greater prosperity. And that prosperity must truly reach the people, not just a small elite. The rich can’t be just 0.1 percent on top. We’re open. Indonesia for all. The rich, go ahead. We’re not anti-rich. But the rich must be nationalists.<\/p>\n

Indonesia is not a field or a\u00a0 farm whose wealth can simply be be taken abroad. I repeat: Indonesia refuses to be someone else’s farm. Indonesia wants its wealth to remain in our own hands, to be enjoyed by Indonesians. I have said this repeatedly, \u00a0and I’m determined to achieve it. You are the spearhead of this great national effort.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

We have delivered MBG to tens of millions and will continue until complete. Any shortcomings, we will fix them. Many fear our success. But we have already felt the benefits.<\/p>\n

Farmers whose harvests weren’t sold, mangoes left rotting after harvest since nobody bought them. Then middlemen bought them and crashed the prices. Our people cannot prosper that way. Now we are changing it. Nearly all farmers and fishermen have market guarantees,\u00a0offtake. Whatever they produce will be absorbed by Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Every village has MBG kitchens. When there is a problem, we act. This revives the economy. One kitchen creates 50 jobs. When 30,000 kitchens are operating, that means 1.5 million jobs. Red-White Cooperatives will reach 81,000 stores. One cooperative employs 18 people. 80,000 times 18\u2014please calculate it yourselves\u2014gives more than 1 million jobs. Ladies and Gentlemen, this does not yet include other programs like people’s housing.<\/p>\n

That reverses the outflow of wealth abroad. Now we return it to the people. Is it wrong? What is wrong if the President and his government return the money to their own people? This is money saved from corruption. Money that would surely have been corrupted, we hold it, we reallocate it, and we pour it back to the people. Is it wrong? I feel I am on the right path. We are on the right path. We are on the people’s side. Whoever is not, go ahead. I will continue, always on the side of the Indonesian nation and people.<\/p>\n

Therefore, I express gratitude and congratulations to all parties. I also order continuous reviews because technology keeps evolving. I demand objectivity and a scientific approach. Calculate mathematically. Even if we launched these projects with feasibility studies a year or six months ago, if today’s technology advances offer better, cheaper options more beneficial to the people, we must dare to change plans.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen, members of the Downstreaming Task Force team, Danantara, keep reviewing technology continuously. Review technology using data, with no other interests. The most efficient, the most beneficial to the people\u2014that’s what we must implement.<\/p>\n

That’s what I want to convey. We must become a giant that does not sleep. We must become the awakened giant, and we will awaken. We will become a great nation. Believe that. I strongly believe it.<\/p>\n

Honestly, I love the lyrics from one of my favorite songs called Pertemuan (meeting). \u00a0“I want to live a thousand years more” I want live a thousand years to see a great Indonesia, a prosperous Indonesia, an Indonesia that is respected and admired by other nations.<\/p>\n

Earlier, at Cilacap High School, I saw bright, spirited high school students. Our future is good. We are united, together. Don’t look at backgrounds or ethnic groups. Differences are good, differences are a form of \u00a0wealth, do not let differences become barriers. We cover each other’s shortcomings. We remind each other of our mistakes. We correct them immediately. All for the good of the nation . Peace is very precious.<\/p>\n

Look at the news every day. Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Baluchestan, which country isn’t at war? We protect our nation. Protect our nation.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s conclude my remarks.<\/p>\n
