\nMy esteemed guests, members of the press and media, and all the Indonesian people, my fellow countrymen and compatriots, wherever you may be.<\/p>\n

First and foremost, as people of faith, let us offer unceasing praise and gratitude to God Almighty, the Most High, the Lord of All Beings, for granting us His blessings, and for the health and peace, allowing us to stand together in this historic place today, for a commemoration ceremony of the birth of Pancasila, June 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

Today, we commemorate the 81st<\/sup> anniversary of the birth of Pancasila. Eighty-one years ago, Bung Karno stood before the session of the Investigating Committee for Preparatory Work for Indonesian Independence and articulated a grand vision that later became the philosophical foundation of the Republic of Indonesia. Pancasila did not spring from a vacuum, but was born out of the history, experiences, culture, and aspirations of the Indonesian people themselves.<\/p>\n

Pancasila is a noble consensus, a national agreement that allows our nation, with thousands of islands, hundreds of ethnic groups, hundreds of languages, and hundreds of diverse cultures, to live as one nation.<\/p>\n

That is why this year\u2019s commemoration theme, \u201cPancasila, the Unifying Force of the Nation, the Foundation of World Peace,\u201d holds profound meanings. Amid an increasingly divided world due to conflicts, geopolitical rivalries, trade wars, and economic uncertainty, Indonesia stands firm on a solid foundation. This foundation is Pancasila.<\/p>\n

My fellow countrymen,
\nPancasila is more than just a historical document. Pancasila should not merely be a slogan we recite at every ceremony. Pancasila is a guiding principle for our national, social, and state life, including the way we develop our national economic system.<\/p>\n

One of the greatest challenges for our nation today is to ensure that our economic development truly aligns with the values of Pancasila. Let us always be truthful to ourselves. We must acknowledge the weaknesses and difficulties we face.<\/p>\n

Over the past few decades, Indonesia\u2019s economy has certainly grown, but has that growth been evenly distributed and has it been enjoyed equally by all Indonesians? Let us truthfully look at the reality we face today.<\/p>\n

We are blessed with extraordinary natural resources. We are well aware of our immense wealth. We are one of the world\u2019s largest producers of critical commodities essential to modern society and advanced technology. We are among the top producers of vital minerals such as copper, tin, gold, and rare earth metals. We are also a producer of palm oil, coal, nickel, and other crucial agricultural commodities.<\/p>\n

And today, we are self-sufficient in food. While many countries face difficulties, we are better prepared. However, we must acknowledge that for too long, our wealth has failed to be fully tapped for the prosperity of our people. For too long, much of the value added from our resources has been enjoyed abroad. For too long, our people have merely been spectators to the wealth of their own nation.<\/p>\n

That is why I am convinced that our historical duty at this moment, my historical duty as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, as the people\u2019s representative sworn in before the people, is to carry out the nation\u2019s transformation, especially the national economic transformation. An economic transformation from one not fully based on Pancasila to one that is truly founded on Pancasila.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,
\nWhat does the economy mean within the framework of Pancasila? First, it is a religious economy, a humanity-based economy, and an economy that strengthens national unity. We believe that natural resources are not merely economic commodities. Natural resources are entrusted to us by God Almighty to be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people, for our children and grandchildren, for the future, and for generations to come.<\/p>\n

Economic development must not be limited to statistics. Economic development must result in a better life for all Indonesians. Our children, especially those who are most vulnerable, least fortunate, and most disadvantaged, must receive proper nutrition. Our farmers must be provided with fertilizer in a timely manner and at fair prices.<\/p>\n

Our fishers must be given fair market access, and they must be supported and empowered. Our fishers are essential producers of protein, allowing our people to become a strong nation. Our workers must be given opportunities, livelihoods, and proper income. The welfare of our workers must be protected and supported.<\/p>\n

Third, our economy must prioritize national interests and the people’s interests. Our economy must not only benefit a handful of people. For far too long, the prices of our natural resources have been determined by others, determined in other countries. For far too long, a share of the profits from natural resources has flowed overseas and remained outside the country. Therefore, the Government has decided to implement a one-door policy for natural resource exports.<\/p>\n

We must also make significant investments in industrialization based on downstream processing. We must reinforce the management of export revenue and ensure that Indonesia\u2019s wealth provides the greatest possible benefit to all of its people.<\/p>\n

Fourth, the Pancasila economy is an egalitarian economy, a people-centered economy. Our economy follows the blueprint set by the nation\u2019s founders, by Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, Bung Syahrir, and other visionaries, as clearly outlined in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. It states that the Indonesian economy must be organized as a collective enterprise founded on the principle of kinship.<\/p>\n

Therefore, cooperatives must be strengthened and revitalized, as they are key instruments for reducing poverty and vulnerability. MSMEs must also be empowered, and villages should be developed into new centers of economic growth<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,
\nThat is why the people must be the main drivers of development, not merely its objects, let alone its instruments.<\/p>\n

Fifth, our economy is one based on social justice. This is the ultimate goal of all our struggles. Economic growth must be accompanied by equitable distribution. Progress must benefit all Indonesians.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,
\nWith this in mind, the current administration is taking various transformative measures. We are not only talking about development; we now have bolder aspirations, and we are currently and will continue to pursue a national transformation strategy. Our strategy is, in essence, transformation, a course of action aligned with Pancasila.<\/p>\n

We are boosting the downstreaming of natural resources. We are ensuring national food security. We are strengthening cooperatives and the village economy. We continue to provide Free Nutritious Meals to ensure Indonesia\u2019s next generation grows up healthy, capable, and intelligent. We are improving education, healthcare, and human development. We are reforming governance to stop the nation\u2019s wealth from draining away and flowing abroad.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,
\nA transformation, a major change, is not easily achieved. We will face obstacles. We will face challenges. And, we may also face resistance from groups that thrive on corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities. We may face resistance from those who do not love their country and who even seek to undermine the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

But a great nation must be brave. We must have the courage to make the right decisions, even when those decisions are difficult. We must have the courage to defend our people. We must refrain from pursuing short-term convenience at the expense of the future of our children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n

No nation can be truly independent without prosperity. We do not wish to become a nation that is dependent on other nations, for no other nation will truly have compassion for us. If we are in trouble, if our people are starving, if our people are in hardship, no other nation, no other power, will take pity on us or help us.<\/p>\n

Just as our nation\u2019s founders, just as our proclaimer Bung Karno once told us, we must have the courage to stand on our own feet. That is the essence of a sovereign nation.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,
\nPancasila has united the Indonesian people for the past 81 years. Many people and countries have expressed doubts that Indonesia could remain intact or survive due to its many differences, including numerous ethnic groups, regional languages, and diverse customs. Yet today, we have proven that we remain one nation, a united nation.<\/p>\n

And I believe that when we genuinely uphold Pancasila in politics, in law, in social affairs, in culture, and especially in the economy, I am confident that Indonesia will not only become a developed and prosperous nation, but Indonesia will also be a nation respected by other nations because of the prosperity of its people. It will be a nation that is strong because of its unity, a nation that is prosperous because of its justice, and a nation that is great because of its humanity. It will be a nation capable of being a driving force for world peace. It will be a nation that does not beg for aid. It will be a nation capable of aiding other nations.<\/p>\n

Let us safeguard Pancasila, let us implement Pancasila, let us realize an Indonesia that is just, prosperous, sovereign, and dignified.<\/p>\n
