President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (06\/22) welcomed delegations from Imperial College London at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, who joined the meeting, explained that the partnership with Imperial College London is part of the Government\u2019s initiative to strengthen the ecosystem of national education and research.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, with Imperial College, we discussed many aspects of our plan to establish a strategic partnership to improve education quality in Indonesia, especially in medical education,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n

Brian explained that President Prabowo discussed the initiative to establish 10 universities of medicine and science in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a discussion of the President\u2019s initiative to establish ten universities of medicine and science that will collaborate with Imperial College. The curriculum, standard of learning, joint research, and professors’ visits will be undertaken by Imperial College and other colleges,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

The Minister further explained that the partnership is part of a strategic measure to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. This is in line with the President\u2019s commitment to improving the quality of human resources through education and research.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, Mr. President welcomed Imperial College, and this is an achievement. Because we know that not too long ago, QS Ranking announced that Imperial College ranks second globally just under MIT,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Brian stated that this collaboration is expected to benefit Indonesia\u2019s universities, not limited to the ten universities, that will be established.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we are sure that campuses across Indonesia will feel the benefit. Therefore, we have high hopes that the visit, welcomed in person by Mr. President, will open further strategic partnerships in the education sector,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Brian highlighted that the partnership will open opportunities to improve the quality of national education and research. This is because Imperial College London has an excellent reputation in the medical and science sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all may know that in medical school, Imperial College ranks fourth globally. So, when this partnership comes true, this surely is a big opportunity for our nation to be part of one of the top universities in the world, to improve the quality of education and research in Indonesia, and hopefully, will lead to the improvement of our universities’ rankings,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
