President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Tuesday (07\/\/07) delivered a joint press statement following their bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n
In his statement, President Prabowo Subianto described the state visit of PM Modi as a historic milestone, marking the increasingly close relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cPM Modi\u2019s state visit this time is a historic milestone. It reflects the commitment of both countries to continue advancing [our] comprehensive strategic partnership through tangible, mutually beneficial cooperation,\u201d stated the President.<\/p>\n
During the productive and substantive meeting, the two leaders discussed a range of strategic issues of mutual interest of Indonesia and India.<\/p>\n
In the political sector, President Prabowo Subianto and PM Modi agreed to strengthen their partnership by increasing the frequency of high-level visits, enhancing coordination through bilateral consultation mechanisms, and deepening inter-institutional cooperation.<\/p>\n
The two leaders also committed to strengthening counterterrorism efforts and enhancing security cooperation through the \u2018Third India-Indonesia Security Dialogue\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs transnational security challenges continue to grow, we are committed to deepening cooperation in capacity-building, leveraging new technologies, combating transnational crime, and developing digital infrastructure,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
To enhance people-to-people connectivity, President Prabowo Subianto expressed support for the development of port infrastructure in both countries.<\/p>\n
In the economic sphere, the two countries are committed to boosting trade by accelerating the Indonesia\u2013India Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and reviewing the ASEAN\u2013India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA).<\/p>\n
\u201cTo strengthen financial sector cooperation, we welcome the progress in discussions on establishing a cross-border QR Payment linkage between Indonesia and India. This system is expected to improve transaction efficiency while enhancing the resilience of the financial sector,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Both leaders also committed to strengthening cooperation in energy security, health, and culture.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo Subianto further welcomed efforts to restore and conserve the Prambanan Temple compounds, a UNESCO World Heritage site.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have also designated 2026\u20132027 period as the \u2018Tagore\u2013Dewantara Year\u2019 for Indonesia\u2013India cultural and educational diplomacy,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n
In the education sector, President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Modi supported the establishment of a campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the exploration of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) presence in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Both leaders also supported efforts to increase the number of Indonesian students studying in India.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese initiatives reflect the long-standing civilizational ties between Indonesia and India. At the same time, we remain committed to strengthening cooperation in education, research and technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges,\u201d concluded the President.<\/p>\n
The bilateral meeting resulted in a series of strategic commitments that further solidify the positions of Indonesia and India as key partners in the Indo-Pacific region while opening up broader opportunities for cooperation in advancing the progress and prosperity of both nations.
