President Prabowo Subianto, Monday (07\/20,) underscored that the establishment of Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) investment management agency represented a major government achievement in managing the nation\u2019s wealth and assets in a more orderly, measurable and forward\u2011looking manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cDanantara is a sovereign wealth fund in which the savings of the nation\u2019s wealth and assets are brought together, consolidated, and managed neatly. This will become a reserve; this will become energy for Indonesia\u2019s future. This is for our children, grandchildren and great\u2011grandchildren,\u201d President Prabowo said in his opening remarks at a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n

The President stated that Danantara holds assets with a value exceeding one trillion US dollars. Through Danantara, state wealth that was previously scattered and difficult to monitor will be managed and overseen more effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlhamdulillah<\/em>, for the first time in our history we have this sovereign wealth fund, this Danantara whose assets worth more than one trillion US dollars. These assets are difficult to monitor. We often do not fully understand the extent of our wealth,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

As part of state assets consolidation, President Prabowo continues the restructuring of 1,077 SOEs. The President stated that many SOEs establish subsidiaries and affiliated companies. Thus, the governance must be improved.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, President Prabowo expressed appreciation to Danantara\u2019s leaders for consolidating and merging 250 of 1,077 SOEs within its first 18 months. By the end of July 2026, 250 entities will have been closed, consolidated, or merged.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy July 31, Danantara will have closed, consolidated, or merged 250 of the 1,077 SOEs,\u201d the President said. The Government also aims to reduce significantly the number of SOEs to a maximum of 350 entities by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n

The President further said that the consolidations and mergers not only improve governance but also secure substantial savings for the state. The closure of 250 SOEs has saved roughly Rp50 trillion in overhead costs, including salaries for directors and commissioners, office rent, utilities, transportation, and meeting expenses.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo estimated that the savings will continue to increase as the restructuring is still ongoing. \u201cBy December 31, I think we could save around Rp70\u201380 trillion. I would like to express my gratitude to the leaders of Danantara,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Through Danantara and the reforms of SOEs, President Prabowo showcased the Government\u2019s commitment to modernizing, streamlining, and making state asset management more productive so it can become a new engine of growth to strengthen national competitiveness and leave an economic legacy for Indonesia\u2019s future generations.
