Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, and all the people of Indonesia, our fellow citizens and compatriots.<\/p>\n

First and foremost, as people of faith, let us continually offer our praise and gratitude to Almighty God, the Lord of all creation, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for Muslims. It is to Him alone that we pray, and from Him alone that we seek help.<\/p>\n

We are grateful for the countless blessings bestowed upon our nation and our country, for the peace that we continue to enjoy, for the life and health granted to us, enabling us to gather this morning in this honorable place to commemorate the 80th Bhayangkara Day (the National Police Day). On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and all the people of Indonesia, I extend my congratulations on the 80th Bhayangkara Day to the entire family of the Indonesian National Police, wherever you are serving.<\/p>\n

This year’s theme, “The Indonesian National Police for the People,” is highly appropriate. It reflects the very identity of the institution. It defines the direction of its service. It is, and must continue to be, the moral compass of every member of the Bhayangkara Corps. The Indonesian National Police exists for the people. The Indonesian National Police works for the people. The Indonesian National Police must protect the people. The Indonesian National Police serves the nation and the state.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Indonesia stands at a historic crossroads now. We are undertaking a major transformation amid a world filled with uncertainty, tension, and conflict. We are carrying out economic transformation, bureaucratic reform, educational transformation, food sector transformation, and energy transformation. Our transformation is aimed at making Indonesia a modern nation, a prosperous nation founded on justice, and a nation that stands firmly upon the sovereignty of its people.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

I would like to remind us all that there can be no prosperity without stability. There can be no development without security. There can be no economic growth or investment without legal certainty. There can be no justice without a clean and competent government. There will never be public welfare without public order. And there can be no strong nation without state institutions that are trusted by the people, loyal to the people, and committed to protecting the people. For that reason, the role of the Indonesian National Police is of the utmost importance, very strategic, very significant.<\/p>\n

The history of human civilization shows that civilizations with outstanding police institutions are the ones that have endured, flourished, and stood the test of time. Conversely, many states have failed because they were unable to establish capable police forces.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

I extend my highest appreciation to every member of the Indonesian National Police who works tirelessly, day and night, to safeguard the nation’s security and public order. I have also witnessed firsthand how the Indonesian National Police, together with other institutions of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, continues to transform itself, improve its performance, and work diligently to build the professional and excellent police force that the Indonesian people aspire to have.<\/p>\n

I also wish to emphasize that the Indonesian National Police possesses a unique character. It was born out of Indonesia’s War of Independence. During that struggle, the police fought alongside the nation’s freedom fighters and actively participated in combat. For this reason, the Indonesian National Police has always remained close to the people, defended the people, and shared in their hardships. Accordingly, I wish to express my appreciation for the Indonesian National Police’s active involvement in strengthening our nation’s food security.<\/p>\n

The Indonesian National Police is always on the front lines whenever communities are struck by disasters. It continues to help maintain price stability throughout Indonesia. Police leaders also play active roles across various sectors of national governance. The Indonesian National Police has provided active and significant support for strategic national programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program.<\/p>\n

The Indonesian National Police is present in villages and in border regions. I have personally witnessed how the Police’s food security initiatives have made a significant contribution to national food security, particularly in increasing corn production. I have also seen firsthand the food storage warehouses built by the Police, facilities that are greatly needed and constructed to an exceptionally high standard.<\/p>\n

The Indonesian National Police has also taken an active role in establishing more than one thousand Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs), or community kitchens, to support the Free Nutritious Meals Program. I say this without hesitation, the kitchens built by the Indonesian National Police are among the finest. This is not merely my own assessment. Numerous observers and representatives from international organizations who have visited Indonesia have inspected these facilities, and many of the kitchens they visited were those established by the Indonesian National Police.<\/p>\n

The Indonesian National Police also continues to build water wells, bridges, and other essential infrastructure while providing assistance to communities affected by natural disasters. This is the spirit that you must continue to uphold and preserve.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Security is not merely the absence of crime. Security means that people are free to work, farmers have the confidence to cultivate their land, fishermen can safely go to sea, entrepreneurs are confident to invest, teachers can teach in peace, children can study without fear, and every citizen is able to worship according to his or her religion and beliefs in an atmosphere of harmony and mutual tolerance. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is one of Indonesia’s greatest strengths.<\/p>\n

I am grateful that our national security and stability continue to be well maintained. Indeed, whenever Indonesia moves forward, there will always be attempts to obstruct or hinder our nation’s progress. Yet Indonesia is a great and resilient nation that possesses tremendous potential and immense strength. Therefore, I am confident that our nation will continue to rise. We will continue our transformation into a strong, modern, and prosperous nation founded upon justice.<\/p>\n

I also commend the Indonesian National Police, together with the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), ministries, regional governments, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and all stakeholders, for successfully maintaining security during major national holidays including Christmas, New Year, Eid al-Fitr, and other important occasions. As a result, millions of people have been able to travel and reunite safely with their families. Traffic accidents have been reduced, and public services have continued to improve. Achievements such as these demonstrate that the state is present whenever its people need it.<\/p>\n

Distinguished members of the Indonesian National Police,<\/p>\n

The challenges before us are becoming no easier. The world is marked by conflict and geopolitical tensions. Wars in one part of the world inevitably affect us. Crime is also becoming increasingly sophisticated and constantly evolving. Threats continue to change, and technology can be exploited for malicious purposes. Therefore, our methods and approaches must also continue to adapt.<\/p>\n

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to emphasize once again, narcotics pose a very serious threat to our nation. Online gambling is another grave threat that inflicts enormous harm upon our society. Human trafficking, cybercrime, terrorism, corruption, smuggling, other forms of illegal activity, illegal mining, illegal plantations, and various forms of white-collar crime all inflict significant damage on our nation.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, I commend the Indonesian National Police, together with other relevant institutions, for successfully uncovering and dismantling thousands of narcotics cases. I also appreciate its cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in combating online gambling, as well as its achievement in maintaining zero terrorism incidents over the past several years. These are accomplishments worthy of our recognition.<\/p>\n

At the same time, I must remind everyone that we must never become complacent. We must never be too easily satisfied. The challenges ahead remain immense as many of our people still live in poverty. And poverty is a direct consequence of corruption, smuggling, and various forms of illegal economic activity. For that reason, your challenge, and indeed our collective challenge, remains both great and many.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Our country is a nation governed by the rule of law. Therefore, the law must be upheld. It must be respected and honored. The law must protect the people. It must provide a sense of security to law-abiding citizens. It must serve as a refuge for the weak and vulnerable. The law must never be harsh toward the powerless while lenient toward the powerful. It must never become a tool for those with wealth and influence. It must never be used as an instrument of political revenge, nor should it ever serve the interests of only one particular group whatsoever. The law must never be used as a tool for spreading any political grudge. There must be no criminalization, abuse of authority, and no one, regardless of position or status, should ever be above the law.<\/p>\n

Let me emphasize once again, the most vulnerable members of our society must receive protection. Those who seek truth and justice must be served. Those who are innocent must feel secure. Those who have committed wrongdoing must be held accountable for their actions.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

We will continue to strengthen our democratic life. We respect criticism. Criticism is important, it reminds us of our shortcomings and helps us improve ourselves. At the same time, we must safeguard the security of our democracy. We must not allow our democracy to be hijacked by those with immense financial power. Nor must we allow it to be undermined by foreign interests. Differences of opinion must never be allowed to turn into hatred.<\/p>\n

We are all children of the Indonesian nation. Our democracy must embody the values of Indonesia. Differences should never become a source of division. We must always prioritize unity and harmony among ourselves. The Indonesian National Police must serve as the guardian of a mature democracy, ensuring that every citizen can express their views peacefully while, at the same time, upholding the rule of law and maintaining public order.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the 80th Bhayangkara Day, I would like to convey several messages in my capacity as the President of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

First, safeguard the trust of the people, because public trust is the greatest asset of every police officer.<\/p>\n

Second, be a police force that remains close to the people. Be present whenever the people need you. Listen to the people, serve the people, and protect the people. Never become a burden to the people. Remember that your salaries as state officers are paid by the people, and all the equipment you use is provided through the people’s resources. Therefore, it is your duty to genuinely safeguard and protect our people.<\/p>\n

Third, uphold the law fairly. Have the courage to defend what is right and to protect the vulnerable. Never be afraid of anyone. The only One we should fear is Almighty God.<\/p>\n

Fourth, continue to strengthen your professionalism. Master science and knowledge, master technology, master artificial intelligence. The crimes of today and tomorrow can only be defeated by law enforcement officers who are committed to continuous learning, who are intelligent, and who are highly capable.<\/p>\n

Fifth, strengthen cooperation and synergy. The Indonesian National Police cannot work alone. It must always work hand in hand with other institutions, with the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the Government, all state institutions, community leaders, religious leaders, academics, the media, the business community, farmers, fishermen, workers, and all the people of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Sixth, never stop improving yourselves. Never become arrogant. The more accomplished you become, the humbler you should be. Humility does not mean weakness. On the contrary, those who are truly strong become even more courteous and conduct themselves with greater integrity. A great institution is one that is willing to listen. A strong institution is one that has the courage to change. An institution that is loved by the people is one that always remains humble.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

I extend my sincere appreciation to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police and all members of the organization for their continued efforts to strengthen institutional reform, enhance professionalism, improve discipline, reinforce public services, and build strong synergy with every component of our nation.<\/p>\n

Safeguard the honor and integrity of the Indonesian National Police. And above all, safeguard the Indonesian nation and its people.<\/p>\n

Happy 80th Bhayangkara Day to the Indonesian National Police. The Indonesian National Police for the People. A Precision Police Force for an Advanced Indonesia. Always with the people, always safeguarding Indonesia. The Indonesian National Police stands at the forefront as the Bhayangkara, the guardian of the Indonesian nation.<\/p>\n
