Djamari Chaniago; Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi; Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono; Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini; Attorney General Prof. ST Burhanuddin; Chief of the Indonesian National Police General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo; Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces General of the Indonesian Army Agus Subiyanto; Head of the State Intelligence Agency General (Ret.) Distinguished lecturers, trainers, mentors, and the entire academic community of IPDN; parents and extended families; and all young praja<\/em> officers attending this ceremony at IPDN and those joining us from every part of the country;<\/p>\n

And, most importantly, to all the Young Praja Officers of the 33rd<\/sup> Cohort of 2026 whom I have just formally inaugurated and of whom I am deeply proud.<\/p>\n

First and foremost, as people of faith, let us never cease to offer our praise and gratitude to Allah subhanahu wa ta\u2019aala<\/em>, Almighty God, the Most Great, the Lord of all creation. To Him alone we pray, and to Him alone we seek help. We give thanks for the blessings, grace, and peace continually bestowed upon our nation; for the breath and health granted to us; and for His mercy, which has enabled us to gather here today to for the inauguration of the Young Praja Officers of the 33rd<\/sup> Cohort of 2026. Today is, of course, a very special day for all of you.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia; on behalf of the state, the nation, and the people of Indonesia, and in my personal capacity, let me extend my congratulations to all the Young Praja<\/em> Officers who are officially inaugurated today.<\/p>\n

Today, you have chosen a noble path in life: the path of service to the people, the nation, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. It is not an easy or light path. It is filled with obstacles, difficulties, and challenges. Above all, it demands sacrifice. My children, all of you have chosen to devote your lives and yourselves to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Your lives will carry the demands and expectations of the nation and the state. You must become praja<\/em> officers who are present when the people face hardship. You must become beacons of hope, pillar of support, and leaders within society.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

You are a cohort of praja<\/em> officers who have already gone directly into the field for one month to assist disaster relief in Aceh province. Even before your inauguration, you were called upon to work and help the people during a time of hardship.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Being a praja <\/em>officer is not merely a matter of holding rank or occupying a position. The honor of a state official is measured not by the office they hold, but by the tangible benefits the people receive from their service.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

You are servants of the people. You must serve, protect, and care for the people of Indonesia to the very best of your ability. Our people do not need complicated, bureaucratic systems. They do not need leaders who fail to carry out their duties properly. The people need, and demand, public officials who are honest, disciplined, clean, and free from corruption, who have the courage to make decisions, and who are always present when the people need them. The people demand state officials who place the interests of the people above personal or group interests.<\/p>\n

Wherever you are assigned, always remember that you are the face and symbol of the state. Through your conduct and appearance, the people will judge whether the state is present or absent, whether our country is orderly, whether it is a source of pride, and whether it is a nation worthy of respect. People will feel whether the state truly cares for them. Through the decisions you make, they will judge whether the state deserves their trust. That is the weight of the duties and responsibilities of a praja<\/em> officer. Therefore, work to the very best of your ability. If you serve well, people will place greater trust in and feel greater love for their country. But if you disappoint them, it is not merely your personal reputation that suffers; the people’s trust in the state suffers as well.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

We have great aspirations because Indonesia is a great nation. By population, Indonesia is the world\u2019s fourth-largest country. In terms of territory, our land area is comparable to that of 27 European countries. Our country is vast and great, and today we believe in how rich our country is. Because of this, our country was targeted by other nations for hundreds of years. They came to take our wealth.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

For hundreds of years, many of our leaders were deliberately set against one another under the doctrine of divide et impera – <\/em>divide and rule. That was their method: to divide us by ethnic group, religion, race, community, and other social or political affiliations.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

For a country to become strong and successful, it needs domestic governance that is excellent, efficient, and disciplined. Above all, it needs domestic governance that is free from corruption, loves the homeland, and places the interests of the people above all other interests. History teaches us than when such governance is in place,\u00a0 a country can succeed, the nation can prosper, and the people can enjoy greater welfare.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Our great aspiration is for Indonesia to become an advanced and modern nation, an independent nation that stands on its own feet, not governed by others, dictated to by others, or deceived by others. We want all Indonesians to live good and prosperous lives, to feel safe, to earn a decent, sufficient income. We do not want any Indonesian to go hungry. We do not want any Indonesian child to be unable to attend school. We do not want any of our citizens to be unable to receive hospital care when needed. We do not want any of our people to live in inadequate housing. That is our aspiration. That is our struggle. And in the years ahead, it will be your task.<\/p>\n

That great aspiration is now approaching reality. Global projections indicate that, within roughly 25 years, Indonesia could become the world’s fourth-largest economy, behind France, Germany and the United Kingdom. Twenty-five years from now, Ladies and Gentlemen, you will be the ones running the government. Twenty-five years from now, some of you may become governors. Perhaps one day, one of you will stand at this very podium. The future belongs to all of you. We are working and serving today to open the path for you, Ladies and Gentlemen.<\/p>\n

You are our children, whom we are preparing to safeguard this republic when we are no longer here. Therefore, you must become the very best leaders. You are the driving force of the government bureaucracy and the people who will determine whether development succeeds on the ground.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

The greatest ideas, the most ambitious plans, and the best policies will come to nothing if they are not implemented effectively in the field. Great ideas will fail, and the finest plans will never be achieved. That is why, truly, you are our hope.<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

When you begin your assignments, you will not work alone. You will become part of a great national team, working alongside the Indonesian National Defense Forces, the Indonesian National Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, regional governments, and all elements of government and society. You must be able to build relationships and maintain good relations with every part of society: with religious scholars, business leaders, community leaders, and traditional leaders. Never become an arrogant leader. Build cooperation, because cooperation is the key to success. Respect one another, support one another, and strengthen one another.<\/p>\n

I believe that the graduates of IPDR\u2019s 33rd<\/sup> Cohort in 2026 are among the nation’s finest sons and daughters, individuals who embody a spirit of service, discipline, courage, and integrity.<\/p>\n

Before I came to this podium, I received a report from Minister of Home Affairs. He told me, \u201cMr. President, all ten of the top graduates from this cohort come from very modest families.\u201d I was informed that some are children of laborers, some are children of farmers, and some, among military families, are children of non-commissioned officers. This demonstrates that IPDN\u2019s selection process, conducted by Ministry of Home Affairs, is fair.<\/p>\n

We want a proper and fair selection process. The nation’s best sons and daughters must be given opportunities, regardless of their family background. This shows that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is succeeding. If the child of a daily laborer can graduate and become a praja<\/em> officer, then who knows, one day that person will become a great leader. It shows that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is succeeding. It proves that Pancasila is the right foundation for our nation.<\/p>\n

The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila must ensure that this country is led by the very best, by those who excel, through a system based on meritocracy. Those who demonstrate excellence must be given the opportunity to advance to move forward, and to step forward. This fills my heart with pride, Ladies and Gentlemen.<\/p>\n

Finally, I would like to leave you with several messages. Always love our homeland. Always love the people. You are children of the people. Remain loyal to all Indonesians, as though every citizen were your own parent. Hold firmly to Pancasila and never your loyalty to become narrow.<\/p>\n

Our country is great. We have many ethnic groups, religions, races, and communities, yet we are one family. Every ethnic group is your brother and sister. Every follower of every religion is your brother and sister. Every race is your brother and sister. Every race and every community is your brother and sister<\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n

Hold firmly to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. It was born from the vision of our nation\u2019s founders, who endured centuries of colonial rule. Therefore, the Constitution is the pure voice of independence and the clearest expression of the aspirations of our founding generation. Never betray the founders of our nation.<\/p>\n

Finally, I repeat my message: work with your heart, without arrogance. Always remain close to the people and always stand up for them. If you are uncertain, stand with the people. When you are unsure about a decision, ask yourself, \u201cWhich choice will benefit the people?\u201d. If you are convinced that a decision and course of action will benefit the people, especially the weakest, the poorest, and the most vulnerable, then choose that course. You will not be wrong, Ladies and Gentlemen.<\/p>\n

I also have one final message: make your parents proud, make your alma mater proud, and most importantly, make the people of Indonesia proud of their praja <\/em>officers.<\/p>\n

Good luck in carrying out your duties. Serve the nation and the state with honor. Continue the struggle. May Almighty God, the Most Powerful, always grant you strength, guidance, and protection wherever you are assigned and wherever you serve. May Almighty God always be with us.<\/p>\n

Indonesia awaits for your service.<\/p>\n
