In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his pride at meeting the athletes who will represent Indonesia. The President emphasized that sports play an important role in the life of the nation and state because the strength of a nation is also determined by the quality of its people.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am proud to be able to meet you all today. I would like to convey that sports are very important in the life of a nation and state because a successful and strong nation is one whose people are strong. If its people are strong, then the nation is strong. If its people are physically strong, skilled, and strong in spirit, then the nation is also strong in spirit, skilled, and successful,\u201d said the President.<\/p>\n
The President also reminded the athletes that their abilities are both a blessing and an honor that not everyone possesses. Therefore, the opportunity to represent hundreds of millions of Indonesians should be regarded as both a source of pride and a great responsibility.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe gifts bestowed by God the Almighty are something for which we must be grateful. Not all Indonesians have been given the abilities that you possess. Out of hundreds of millions of Indonesians, only 432 athletes have been selected and qualified to represent 287 million people. This is a tremendous honor,\u201d the President emphasized.<\/p>\n
One of the main events in the ceremony was the presentation of the Red and White flag by President Prabowo to a representative of the Indonesian contingent. The flag was received by speed climber Veddriq Leonardo, who won an Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and a gold medal at the 2026 IFSC Climbing World Series in France.<\/p>\n
The presentation of the flag symbolized the nation\u2019s trust and mandate entrusted to the athletes as they compete on the sporting stage. All members of the contingent are expected to compete with determination, uphold sportsmanship, and deliver their best performances for Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The 20th Asian Games will take place in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Under the slogan \u201cImagine One Asia,\u201d this year\u2019s Games are expected to involve around 15,000 athletes from 45 countries competing across 41 sports.<\/p>\n
With preparations well underway, the Indonesian contingent carries the hopes of the people to once again deliver outstanding achievements.
