President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia\u2019s transformation from a food importer into an exporter as a reflection of the country\u2019s strengthened national capacity and its growing ability to contribute to global food security.<\/p>\n
Addressing BRICS leaders, President Prabowo underscored that Indonesia had for years been a major importer of various food commodities and that situation today has reversed as the country\u2019s domestic production capacity continues to grow.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor years, Indonesia was a major importer of grains, rice, and corn. Now, we have become an exporter and will be able to increase our support for the entire world,\u201d President Prabowo said during a session themed \u201cResilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth\u201d at the 2026 BRICS Summit in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India, Sunday (09\/13).<\/p>\n
The transformation shows how limitations can be turned into greater capacity through the development and strengthening of national capabilities.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo believes that BRICS member states possess similar potential if their respective strengths are connected and collectively optimized.<\/p>\n
According to the Head of State, interconnected global challenges should not be viewed merely as obstacles. Through strong cooperation, these challenges can instead be transformed into opportunities to increase investment, strengthen industries, create more jobs, and provide better prospects for the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, we can turn these interconnected challenges into opportunities for greater investment, stronger industries, and more jobs, as well as better opportunities for our people. Growth that reaches millions of our citizens will make our nations more resilient,\u201d the President stated.<\/p>\n
On that occasion, the President highlighted that a nation\u2019s resilience is closely linked to the extent to which economic growth is felt by the broader population.<\/p>\n
Therefore, he said, inclusive development and innovation are two crucial elements in transforming collective strength into greater capacity.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis can only be achieved when development is inclusive, when combined with innovation, our collective strength can become a formidable force, transforming scarcity into capacity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Regarding BRICS, President Prabowo conveyed that member states already have significant assets, including natural resources, production capacity, and complementary economic strengths. These assets can serve as a foundation for strengthening BRICS\u2019 position within global value chains.<\/p>\n
\u201cBRICS already constitutes a supply chain. Our task is to connect and optimize it so that this existing strength can become a source of greater value for us all,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
To realize this potential, President Prabowo proposed a concrete step to BRICS leaders: fostering joint industrialization. According to the President, the resources and capacities held by member states need to be optimized through cooperation to generate greater added value.<\/p>\n
