President Prabowo Subianto called a meeting with Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Syahganda Nainggolan and Vice Head of Bakom Fadli Tri Hartono, at the President\u2019s private residence, on Sunday (10\/04). In the meeting, they discussed strengthening the agency\u2019s duties in enhancing the Government\u2019s communication with the people.<\/p>\n
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, explained in a written statement that President Prabowo gave special attention to the ways the Government\u2019s policies and programs are communicated to the public, in efforts to make sure that they are not only informative but also convey the benefits they bring to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the meeting, the President discussed strengthening the roles of the Government Communication Agency in communicating programs, outcomes, and benefits to the people, as well as establishing closer communication with the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Teddy, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of using simple language, in order to make the Government\u2019s messages easily grasped and understood by the public. Not only should the communication explain what the Government is working on, but it should also provide an understanding of the direction of each policy.<\/p>\n
In addition to delivering information, President Prabowo also stressed the importance of two-way communication between the Government and the people. The Agency is expected to serve as a bridge that makes it easier for the Government to listen to the people\u2019s various aspirations, Teddy continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President also reminded the Agency to not only deliver messages, but also accommodate ideas, complaints, and criticism from the people, and then relay them to the relevant ministries and institutions, including the President,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The meeting reaffirms the Government\u2019s commitment to establish a communication style that is open and bidirectional. The Government acts not only as the source of information, but also as a listener who responds to the people\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe meeting aimed to strengthen the Government\u2019s communication and make it more open, bidirectional, and sustainable among the Government, media, and the public. Therefore, each policy and the President\u2019s vision can be understood fully by the public, and people\u2019s voice and aspiration can really reach the Government,\u201d he concluded.
