President Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday (10\/15), appointed General Maruli Simanjuntak as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), concurrently serving as Head of the National Border and Remote Areas Management Agency, during an inauguration ceremony held at the State Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The appointment was made pursuant to Presidential Decree Number 105\/TNI of 2026 on the Dismissal and Appointment of the Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces, concurrently serving as Head of the National Border and Remote Areas Management Agency. The decree was read out by Presidential Military Secretary Major General Wahyu Yudhayana.<\/p>\n
The ceremony commenced with the administration of the oath of office, led by President Prabowo. The solemn proceedings underscored the commitment to carrying out the entrusted responsibilities with accountability and integrity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI pledge my loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, founded upon Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and promise to uphold all applicable laws and regulations with the utmost honesty and fairness. In carrying out my official duties, I will uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and fulfill my responsibilities with a strong sense of duty. I will also uphold the Sapta Marga and the Soldier\u2019s Oath to the best of my ability,\u201d President Prabowo said as he recited the oath for the appointee to repeat.<\/p>\n
Afterward, the President removed and presented the insignia of rank and office, which was then followed by the signing of the official minutes.<\/p>\n
The event concluded with a round of congratulations, led by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, followed by the other attendees.<\/p>\n
Speaking to media after the ceremony, Maruli said the establishment of the National Border and Remote Areas Management Agency was intended to improve public welfare, particularly in border regions and remote areas. He said the initiative was aligned with efforts to strengthen local economies in areas that had long required greater attention.<\/p>\n
Regarding his role as TNI Deputy Commander, Maruli emphasized that his primary responsibility would be to assist the TNI Commander in carrying out his duties.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe agency will now be called the National Border and Remote Areas Management Agency, expanding its focus from border management to include remote areas as well. That will be part of my responsibility. As for my role as Deputy Commander, I will, of course, serve as Deputy Commander and assist the TNI Commander,\u201d Maruli told the media.<\/p>\n
Also attending the ceremony were heads of state institutions, ministers and heads of agencies, as well as other invitees.
