{"id":42395,"date":"2015-12-02T12:18:07","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T05:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/?p=42395"},"modified":"2015-12-03T12:23:03","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T05:23:03","slug":"the-house-not-the-government-takes-initiative-to-revise-kpk-law-president-jokowi-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/en\/the-house-not-the-government-takes-initiative-to-revise-kpk-law-president-jokowi-says\/","title":{"rendered":"The House, Not the Government, Takes Initiative to Revise KPK Law, President Jokowi Says"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_42292\" style=\"width: 240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42292\" class=\" wp-image-42292  \" style=\"margin: 5px;\" alt=\"Doorstop\" src=\"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Doorstop-300x205.jpg\" width=\"230\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-42292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Jokowi, accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, answering questions from journalists at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, Wednesday (2\/12)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Joko \u0091Jokowi\u0092 Widodo asserted that it was the House of Representatives (DPR-RI), not the Government, who took the initiative to revise the Law Number 30 of 2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the President said, in the formulation of the revision, he expected opinions from the public first before the revision is included in the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u0093I\u0092ve once said, please ask for the opinions from the public, law experts, academicians, and anti-corruption activists,\u0094 President Jokowi told reporters shortly after arriving from France at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta on Wednesday (2\/12).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Jokowi also believes that the revision of the law carries the spirit to strengthen KPK and not to weaken it.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Echoing the President\u0092s statement, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung previously said that it was the DPR who took the initiative to revise the law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Government, Pramono added, is now waiting for the deliberation of the revision at the DPR before the Government issues a Presidential Mandate on the revision.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pramono also acknowledged that the law must indeed be strengthened.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u0093So the revision is not meant to weaken KPK but to further strengthen it because there are several issues that cannot be resolved by this law, leading to many judicial reviews and pretrial petitions,\u0094\u00a0 Pramono said to reporters on Tuesday (1\/12).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nevertheless, Pramono admitted that there are still several lingering issues in the revision of the law, among others the issues of investigation-termination warrants (SP3), wiretapping,\u00a0 supervisory council, and independent investigators .<b>(*\/ES)<\/b> <b>(EP\/YM\/Naster)<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Joko \u0091Jokowi\u0092 Widodo asserted that it was the House of Representatives (DPR-RI), not the Government, who took the initiative to revise the Law Number 30 of 2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
