Distinguished Delegates, Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In 1962, <\/b>the Founding Father of Indonesia, the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, <\/b>President Soekarno<\/b>, Bung<\/i> Karno,<\/b> clearly stated: \u0093\u0085 for as long as the freedom of Palestine has yet to be returned to the Palestinians, then it will forever be for Indonesia to stand in defiance against the occupation conducted by Israel<\/b>.<\/b>” <\/b><\/p>\n

We, Indonesian people, are consistent with that promise. <\/b>Today, Indonesia stands together with other OIC countries to continue the unfinished struggle.<\/b> <\/b>It is an honor for the <\/b>p<\/b>eople and Government of Indonesia to respond to the request of our brother, President Mahmoud Abbas, to host this 5th<\/sup> Extraordinary OIC Summit on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.<\/b><\/p>\n

Welcome to Indonesia<\/b>, a beautiful country with the world\u0092s largest muslim population, the world\u0092s third largest democracy. A country that will soon open an honorary consulate in Palestine. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Excellencies and Distinguished Delegates,<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We and the world are concerned with the current worsening situation in Palestine. <\/b>Various one<\/b>–<\/b>sided and illegal policies as well as collective sanctions implemented by Israel ha<\/b>ve<\/b> placed more burden on the Palestinian people. <\/b>T<\/b>he access of Islamic Ummah to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem ha<\/b>ve<\/b> been reinforced.<\/b> <\/b>The Palestinians are left helpless.<\/b> <\/b>The humanitarian situation in<\/b> <\/b>occupied areas <\/b>is<\/b> getting worse<\/b>. We must face the situation together. <\/b>We must be united. Palestine must be united. Palestine must reconcile.<\/b> Indonesia stands ready to assist in the reconciliation process.<\/b><\/p>\n

Excellencies and Distinguished Delegates,<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

OIC was established to support the Palestinian\u0092s struggle.<\/b> <\/b>Hence, t<\/b>he Extraordinary Summit\u0092s theme, <\/b>\u0093<\/b>United for<\/b> <\/b>a Just Solution<\/b>\u0094<\/b>, clearly underlines <\/b>that OIC should be part of<\/b> <\/b>the<\/b> <\/b>Palestinian <\/b>solution. <\/b>If the <\/b>OIC <\/b>cannot<\/b> <\/b>be part of<\/b> <\/b>the<\/b> solution <\/b>to Palestine, then the OIC <\/b>will <\/b>lose its<\/b> relevance.<\/b><\/p>\n

Excellencies and Distinguished Delegates,<\/i><\/b><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The international community\u0092s tolerance for Israeli\u0092s illegal occupation of Palestine has long surpassed.<\/b> <\/b>As part of the international community, Israel must immediately end its illegal activities and policies in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. <\/b>Indonesia and t<\/b>he Islamic world stands ready to undertake concrete steps to urge Israel to end its coloni<\/b>z<\/b>ation of Palestine and abuses in Al-Quds Al-Sharif<\/b>. The Islamic world <\/b>requires supports from the <\/b>United Nations<\/b> in line with its own role and responsibilities<\/b>.<\/b> The Islamic world stresses that the peace process must not be further delayed so as to ensure Palestinian independence based on the two-state solution<\/b>.<\/b><\/p>\n

Excellencies and Distinguished Delegates,<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I wish to hear the views from all Heads of State and Government, as well as Heads of Delegation, on the various issues that I have conveyed.<\/b> <\/b>This Extraordinary Summit provides an important momentum for the Islamic world to respond to the situations faced by the people of Palestine through concrete measures. Indonesia will always remain at the forefront in support of the Palestinian cause.<\/b><\/p>\n

On this occasion, allow me to announce that Indonesia has appointed Madame Maha Abu S<\/b>h<\/b>usheh as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia for Palestine, and will soon inaugurate the Honorary Consulate in Ramallah<\/b>, Palestine.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

May Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala<\/i> bless this Extraordinary Summit so that it would result in concrete outcomes that will immediately reali<\/b>z<\/b>e the inalienable rights<\/b> <\/b>of the Palestinian people.<\/b><\/p>\n
