President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in a joint press conference with Indonesian President Joko \u0091Jokowi\u0092 Widodo on Wednesday (18\/5) local time said that Russia and\u00a0Indonesia are linked by\u00a0long-standing and\u00a0close ties and\u00a0their origin was Russia\u0092s sincere friend, Indonesian President Sukarno.<\/p>\n

Putin also said he and President Jokowi also recalled that 60 years ago in\u00a01956, President Soekarno visited Sochi for\u00a0talks with the\u00a0Soviet Union leadership.<\/p>\n

President Putin also said that his meetings with President Jokowi was very \u0091substantive and constructive\u0092.<\/p>\n

Regarding trade cooperation between the two countries, Putin said after a\u00a0certain downturn in\u00a0the\u00a0volume of\u00a0trade last year, positive dynamics have emerged this year and during the\u00a0first three months of\u00a0the\u00a0year, the\u00a0volume of\u00a0bilateral trade (between the two countries) increased by\u00a0nearly 14 percent.<\/p>\n

\u0093I\u00a0am sure that it is within our power not only to\u00a0maintain this pace, but also to\u00a0provide an\u00a0additional impulse to\u00a0the\u00a0further development of\u00a0our business ties,\u0094 Putin said.<\/p>\n

President Putin also said that the\u00a0consistent interest within the\u00a0business community in\u00a0stepping up joint efforts is backed up by\u00a0a\u00a0regular exchange of\u00a0business missions with the\u00a0participation of\u00a0representatives of\u00a0leading Russian and\u00a0Indonesian companies.<\/p>\n

During the talks, Putin said that the two leaders also have agreed to\u00a0provide systematic assistance to\u00a0business circles in the two countries and\u00a0to\u00a0create a\u00a0favorable environment for\u00a0deepening investment and\u00a0industrial cooperation.<\/p>\n

\u0093We have also discussed the\u00a0idea of\u00a0creating a\u00a0free trade zone between Indonesia and\u00a0the\u00a0Eurasian Economic Union,\u0094 Putin added.<\/p>\n

Russia, Putin said, is also ready to\u00a0provide all the\u00a0necessary assistance to\u00a0Indonesia in\u00a0the\u00a0project\u0092s implementation, including a\u00a0joint project that was launched last year: a\u00a0railway line in\u00a0Kalimantan over 190 km long, to\u00a0be built by\u00a0Russian Railways company in\u00a0conjunction with its partners.<\/p>\n

The Russian President also revealed plans including the\u00a0development of\u00a0coal fields, the\u00a0production of\u00a0ferronickel, manganese dioxide, alumina and\u00a0more.<\/p>\n

\u0093Our companies are ready to\u00a0provide Indonesia with high-speed hydrofoil vessels, catamarans and\u00a0floating piers, and\u00a0to\u00a0supply modern equipment for\u00a0satellite vessel monitoring,\u0094 Putin added.<\/p>\n

President Putin also mentioned the opportunity to the cooperation in energy sector, such as the plan of the construction of oil industry in Bali with the investment value of US13billion as well as the\u00a0construction of\u00a0a\u00a01.8 GW thermal power station with an\u00a0investment value of\u00a0$2.8 billion.<\/p>\n

He further said the efforts of continous improvement of people to people contact of the two countries. Russia have provided one hundred study allowances for\u00a0Indonesian citizens for\u00a0this academic year and\u00a0there will be another 100 study allowances\u00a0next year.<\/p>\n

During the bilateral talk, Putin added, both leaders also addressed global and\u00a0regional issues, including the\u00a0fight against terrorism and extrimism.<\/p>\n
