Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan, and Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara deliver a press statement on application-based taxi on Friday (3\/6), at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs\u0092 Office, Jakarta<\/p><\/div>\n

As the transition period for online application-based taxi set by the Government has ended, the Government\u00a0 issued a number of strict requirements for the owner(s) or driver(s) of online application-based taxi to continue operating.<\/p>\n

There are three requirements that the drivers must comply.<\/p>\n

First, they are required to possess Class A licenses for sedan and Class B1 lincenses for microbus with more than 7 seats, Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan said in a press conference in Jakarta on\u00a0 Friday (6\/3).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Second, they are obliged to undergo vehicle roadworthiness tests (KIR) that can be done at authorized repair shops. Otherwise, they will be imposed with sanction if they are still operating without having KIR certificates.<\/p>\n

\u0093We will trace the organizers of the online application, give them warnings, and revoke the permits if there is no improvement. At the end, the application will be blocked,\u0094 the Minister said.<\/p>\n

From the total 3,300 vehicles, only 400 vehichles that has passed the mandatory roadworthiness test.<\/p>\n

Jonan added not only online application-based transportation modes that require to undergo the KIR, but also conventional transportation modes, including Metromini and Kopaja medium-sized buses, as well as other transportation modes under the management of the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda).<\/p>\n

Third, the vehicle registration certificates (STNK) must be registered under the companies\u0092 names for the companies, or refers to the Law on Cooperatives for vehicles that belong to cooperatives.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara said\u00a0 cooperative means organization owned and run jointly by its members, who share the profits or benefits.<\/p>\n

The ministers have agreed that fairness must become a priority; yet the regulation must be upheld if there is a violation, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated.<\/p>\n

\u0093We have agreed and we will disseminate the information to the people. We want our people to be disciplined; hence, the rules we have made, will be watched closely, and there will be equitable sanction. There will be no aggrieved party,\u0094 Luhut added.<\/p>\n

The Government has provided a space for online application-based transportation to operate, however, the discipline must be upheld if there is a violation, Luhut further stated at the press conference.<\/p>\n
