President Joko \u0091Jokowi\u0092 Widodo has yet to give an instruction about candidates of the Indonesian National Police Chief to replace Police Chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti who will enter his retirement period, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said.<\/p>\n

\u0093It is the President\u0092s authority. Even though the President has requested for the opinions from several sides including his closest aides, no names have been mentioned as the candidates of the next police chief,\u0094 Pramono told the reporters after a limited meeting on Monday (6\/6), at the Presidential Office.<\/p>\n

Indonesian National Police Chief Badrodin Haiti is set to retire in 1 August 2016. According to the provisions of the Law, candidates to replace police chief must hold the rank of Commissioner General and the candidates\u0092 names should be submitted to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for approval.<\/p>\n

Pramono admitted that the candidates\u0092 names that are circulated in the public are suggestions from the National Police Commission (Kompolnas). The names were proposed by Luhut Panjaitan as the Chairman of Kompolnas.<\/p>\n

However, President Jokowi has full authority to choose other than the ones from the list already proposed by Kompolnas and it is the President\u0092s discretion to choose the next police chief candidates.<\/p>\n

Asked about the status of current National Police Chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti whether to be extended or replaced, Pramono said: \u00a0“It is also up to President Joko Widodo.”<\/p>\n

\u0093We cannot announce the names of the candidates and the procedures since the President has not issued any instructions related to the appointment of the National Police Chief,\u0094 Pramono said.<\/p>\n
