Central Sulawesi Disaster Victims Have Used 3,463 Housing Units

As a part of an effort to conduct rehabilitation and reconstruction after the earthquake followed by tsunami and soil liquefaction that happened in a number of areas in Central Sulawesi in 2018, until today the Government through Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) has completed 3,463 permanent houses or 45 percent of 7,682 permanent houses as planned. The beneficiaries have also been living in those units.

“In order to accelerate the development of permanent houses and its infrastructure, we hope that the regional government can settle the land issues until last June 2022, so all physical construction activities can be completed in December 2023,” Secretary-General of PUPR Ministry Mohammad Zainal Fatah said during Handover of Permanent Houses, Other Facilities, and Schools Management at the post-disaster location in Central Sulawesi, on Thursday (05/19).

The permanent houses are built in three regencies/cities, namely Palu city, Sigi regency, and Donggala regency. In Palu city, PUPR Ministry has built 230 units in Duyu area, 1,056 units in Tondo 2 area, 1,056 units in Talise area, 663 units in Petobo area, 52 units in Balaroa satellite area, 45 units in independent area of Palu city Phase 1, 233 units in independent area of Palu city Phase 2A, and 45 units in Lere area Phase 2C.

In Sigi regency, 400 units have been built in Pombewe area Phase 1A, 205 units for Phase 1B, and 40 units for Phase 2A. As many as 125 units have been built in Lembara and Salua satellite areas Phase 1B. Meanwhile, the development of 472 units are being prepared in Bangga Phase 2B, North Sibalaya, and South Sibalaya.

In Donggala regency, as many as 622 satellite permanent houses and its basic facilities Phase 1B have been completed.
