In a bid to provide quality, affordable, and comfortable public housing for low-income people, the Government has announced it has allocated Rp9.49 billion to West Kalimantan province to build 1,367 subsidized houses in the province.

The Government has also announced that in 2021 it will distribute 25.000 units of infrastructure, facilities, and utilities (PSU) for the province.

This assistance serves as a stimulus for residential contractors.

“This program shows the Government’s seriousness in realizing decent housing for everyone from all different backgrounds, especially quality, affordable, and comfortable public housing for low-income people,” Minister of Public Housing and Public Works Basuki Hadimuljono said, Friday (23/07/2021).

As many as 1,367 assistance units in West Kalimantan province will be built in Kubu Raya regency (892 units), Pontianak city (96 units), Landak regency (66 units), Sambas regency (50 units), Ketapang regency (139 units), and Melawi regency (124 units).

Echoing a similar sentiment, the Ministry’s Director General of Housing Khalawi Abdul Hamid said that this assistance aims to provide adequate housing for people and also to boost the Government’s One Million Houses Program.

The budget allocation of Rp9.49 billion will also be used for the construction of paving blocks spanning 5,513.5 meters and concrete roads spanning 620 meters around the housing complexes.

“We have set a target to finish this program in West Kalimantan province by the end of 2021,” Abdul remarked.

For the record, this assistance is regulated on Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation Number 03/PRT/M of 2018 on the Amendment to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Number 38/PRT/M of 2015 on Infrastructure, Facilities, and Utilities Assistance for Public Housing.
