Government Disbands HTI After Receiving Input from Ulemas and the People
The Government, President Joko Jokowi Widodo said, has long studied and examined as well as asked input from a lot of people, including ulemas, before making a decision to revoke legal entity status of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) and also to disband this organization, The decision is as has been announced today, the President said when responding to the journalists questions after opening and visiting the exhibition of National Working Meeting X of Association of Indonesian Regency Administrations (APKASI) and APKASI Autonomy Expo 2017, at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Wednesday (19/7) morning.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, on Wednesday (19/7), has issued a Decree to revoke legal entity status of HTI. The decision was made after government institutions who are in the domain of politics, law, and security have coordinated.
This decision is a follow up of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2017 that regulates prosecution and sanction to mass organizations whose activities against the values of Pancasila and Indonesias law, said Director General for Public Law Administration Freddy Harris, in a press release on Wednesday (19/7) morning.
The Director General explained that HTI is listed in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and has a legal entity status with registration number AHU-00282.60.10.2014 dated 2 July 2014. The legal entity status was received after HTI applied to get the status through a website www.ahu.go.id.
Now, since the status has been revoked, Freddy said that HTI has been disbanded in accordance with Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2017 Article 80A. (FID/RAH/ES) (MMB/YM/Naster)
