President Prabowo Subianto Lands in Paris for State Visit Aimed at Deepening Strategic Cooperation with France

President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (05/26) arrived at Orly Airport in Paris, French Republic at around 10:00 a.m. local time after a 16-hour flight.
His arrival in France marked the beginning of the President’s official state visit to the country.
“This arrival marks the beginning of the President’s state visit to France, an invitation that had been scheduled since last year and rescheduled several times,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in his statement.
The President’s arrival at the airport was welcomed by Minister of Labor and Solidarity of the French Republic Jean-Pierre Farandou and a guard of honor.
Beyond the official welcome, the President was also enthusiastically welcomed by hundreds of Indonesian citizens, who had been waiting since morning at the hotel where he was staying.
The visit is expected to further strengthen strategic relations between Indonesia and France.
The Cabinet Secretary stated that both countries currently have a number of strategic cooperation initiatives across various sectors.
“Currently, Indonesia has many highly strategic forms of cooperation with France, and this state visit is expected to further strengthen Indonesia’s position in Europe, particularly in France,” he said.
The Cabinet Secretary further stated that the bilateral relations between Indonesia and France are also seen as playing a complementary role in global affairs.
“Indonesia serves as one of the main gateways for European relations to Asia, while France is an important gateway for Asian relations particularly Southeast Asia to the European region,” he wrote.
The Cabinet Secretary also outlined President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda prior to the start of the official state events.
“The President is scheduled to perform Eid al-Adha prayers and hold a gathering with Indonesian citizens at the Wisma of the Indonesian Embassy in Paris,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/EP)
