President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of regional budget efficiency as one of the key factors in improving people’s prosperity. In his remarks at the opening of the 2025 the Indonesian Regency Administrations Association (APKASI) Autonomy Expo at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten province, on Thursday (28/08), the President expressed his appreciation for the efforts of several regional leaders who have managed to implement significant budget efficiencies without compromising the quality of public services.

“Budget efficiencies mean reducing official trips, meetings, seminars, and work visits. What is the point of more work visits? What matters is work itself, not the work visits,” the President emphasized.

He further explained that funds saved through efficiency measures could be redirected to finance priority programs that directly impacted people’s lives such as for irrigation, healthcare, education, and food security.

“As we all heard a report previously that one regency managed to save Rp462 billion and the money was allocated to build irrigation in preparation of the dry season. The regent is building irrigation system to water 8,000 hectares out of the 30,000-hectare potential in the regency. Within five years, all 30,000 hectares will be covered by new irrigation systems,” the President said.

On that occasion, the President also expressed his appreciation for various initiatives and innovations made by regional leaders to improve public services. He further emphasized the importance of working earnestly for the people and nation, while also maintaining unity in the face of ongoing challenges.

“I thank you for your initiative. Thank you for the innovations you have worked on. I let you do your innovations and I just remind you all to work earnestly for your people, for our nation. Eventually, through our good cooperation, we will complement and support each other, and remain vigilant,” the President remarked.
