President Prabowo Pushes for Free Education
President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his commitment to expanding access to education for all Indonesian children.
The President made the statement at the Final Event of the National Mandate Party’s 28th Anniversary at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) in Jakarta on Friday (09/18).
The Head of State stated that he will convene a meeting soon to discuss efforts to provide free education at public education units, underscoring that education—from primary to higher education—must be widely accessible.
“I will hold a meeting shortly. The bottom line is public education must be free. Education at public primary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, and universities must be free,” he said.
Similarly, Chairperson of the National Mandate Party Zulkifli Hasan stated that education is key to shaping future leaders, adding that the younger generation must be equipped with education that can create excellent, smart, innovative, creative, and independent individuals.
“A generation that loves their own nation and country, a generation with a strong identity—the future belongs to them,” he said.
Zulkifly also pointed out that quality education must be accessible to all Indonesian people, adding that it is the right of every citizen and the foundation for preparing future generations to take on a role in facing the world.
“Quality education must not be a luxury. It must not be limited to those who were born in big cities or into well-off families. Discrimination must not exist in education,” he said.
“For that reason, we support People’s Schools, Garuda Transformation Schools. We want Indonesian youth to not only watch the world change. They must be the ones changing the world—the young and empowered that change Indonesia,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/AW)
