President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo launched Indonesian Golden Visa at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (07/25).

He was so pleased to see the enthusiasm of foreign citizens who apply for the Golden Visa.

According to data from the Immigration Office, as many as 300 applicants have registered since the program was introduced. “I asked the General Director of Immigration that the applicants have reached 300 people. I was quite surprised. That is a lot,” President Jokowi said.

He said that the Golden Visa program aims to simplify the residence permit process for investors and global talents who wish to contribute to Indonesia. “To ease our services for investors and global talents, the Government provides the opportunity for them to use the Golden Visa facility,” he explained.

Through the Golden Visa, he added, the Government offers individual foreign citizens the opportunity to stay in Indonesia for five years. “For individual, it’s US$350,000 and for corporation, it’s US$25 million,” he added.

The President expressed hope that more investors will invest in Indonesia, but they must undergo a selection process so that only those who benefit the country are allowed to stay.

“With such conditions, everyone must be selected strictly. More foreigners, but only the selected ones. As I emphasized earlier, we should not allow foreign individuals who do not benefit our country to stay. They must be strictly selected,” he said, adding that the Golden Visa policy will be evaluated once every three months.

“It will be reviewed, normally once every three months,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also handed over a Golden Visa to the Coach of the Indonesian National Football Team (PSSI) Shin Tae Yong. (KS/ABD) (EST/MUR)
