President Prabowo Subianto, on Monday (04/28), addressed 1,500 leaders of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) with key directives at the 2025 Danantara Indonesia Town Hall, at the Jakarta Convention Center, held under the theme “Strengthening Collaboration and New Directions for SOEs with Danantara Indonesia”.
In his address, President Prabowo underscored the importance of managing Danantara Indonesia as a national asset that must be safeguarded using the principles of transparency and strict governance. The President expressed confidence that Danantara, as the institution responsible for managing state wealth, holds significant potential to spur Indonesia’s economic resurgence.
“Danantara is an asset of the Indonesian nation. It must be properly managed, safeguarded, and maintained with a transparent and very strict system, as this is extraordinary wealth that can drive our resurgence,” President Prabowo said to the press after the meeting.
President Prabowo also stated that if managed effectively, Danantara’s assets could potentially reach US$1 trillion. The President added that managing state assets must produce tangible benefits for the Indonesian people.
“We must manage it properly. We have calculated our assets, it turns out that we are rich, maybe soon Danantara’s assets will reach US$1 trillion. If managed well, this can generate huge national funds,” he stated.
Furthermore, the President called on all directors of SOEs to abandon inefficient or deviant practices. He stressed that directors’ performance must be evaluated thoroughly, including an assessment of integrity and professionalism.
“On behalf of the nation and the people, I call on all directors to do their best, to abandon old practices that may be inefficient. Any improper practices must be abandoned. I leave it to management to evaluate all the directors. Evaluate their performance, characters, morals, and achievements,” he said.
President Prabowo also emphasized that directors must be replaced if it is proven that they have not performed well or have abused their authority. However, replacing directors must still prioritize promotion from within or recruiting competent professionals without discrimination.
“I said, do not choose on the basis of ethnicity, religion, race, background, or on the basis of political parties. No, they must be Indonesians who work as much as possible for the people of Indonesia,” said the President.
For the record, the 2025 Danantara Indonesia Town Hall meeting is an important momentum for President Prabowo to highlight SOEs’ new direction that is more professional, transparent, and oriented towards the interests of the Indonesian people.
