President Prabowo Receives Garuda Indonesia CEO and Embraer Representatives

President Prabowo Subianto had a meeting with the CEO of Garuda Indonesia Glenny Kairupan and board of directors of aircraft producer Embraer from Brazil at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta (02/02), to discuss global airline industry, especially on airline technology and airline ecosystem in Indonesia.

After the meeting, the CEO of Garuda Indonesia Glenny Kairupan mentioned that the substantial discussion with President Prabowo was held in a warm atmosphere by focusing on national and global airline dynamics.

“We have had a conversation on airline industry, covering airline industry in Indonesia, Garuda (Indonesia), highly-advanced airlines, advanced technologies, and how we should involve in the current technologies,” he said.

Furthermore, Glenny firmly stated that the discussion has not included yet purchase planning. He added that the discussion was still in the alignment phase, and that they also exchanged views on global airline technology development.

“We have not discussed yet purchase planning, only technology matters,” Glenny explained.

During the meeting, President Prabowo mentioned that he wants Indonesia, including national airlines to follow and adapt to global technology advances. “Indeed, we should adapt to global technology advances,” Glenny said.

The meeting demonstrated the Government’s commitment to encourage modernization and transformation in national airline sector, as well as to strengthen Indonesia’s position in global aviation industry chain. The strategic measure is in line with the efforts to improve national connectivity, increase air transportation service quality, and support Indonesia’s economic growth and tourism.
